Thanks guys! I usually use a boppy or just a couch pillow. I have a breast friend pillow that I've never used...I'll give it a try!

Agree with the Brest Friend suggestion. With my first I used a boppy plus other pillows and still never got a great position. This time The Brest Friend was invaluable.

I second the brest friend recommendation. It held her in place high enough that I didn't have to hunch. I could never get the boppy to be as comfortable.

But I did stil get tension in my neck and shoulders from the constant holding and rocking and nursing.

I had this problem in the beginning. It was terrible! Worse than the postpartum healing! Once I wasn't so stressed about nursing and my kids started to gain a little weight (maybe 2 weeks in?) it started to improve. Oh, another thing that helped was a nursing stool! I'm short and would nurse so hunched over with my feet dangling off the couch. Once the LC showed me how to sit back with my feet on a stool, things really improved.

Agree with @Truth Bombs: about position. Are you using a pillow? If your LO isn't high enough you will slouch and then get shoulder/neck pain

I used to have this issue if I wasn't very careful with proper nursing. The my breast friend pillow was a life saver. It held LO up higher so I didn't have to hunch.

I've been having constant shoulder/neck pain and incredibly frequent headaches since having DD2 and I honestly think is from the way I hold her when nursing (plus having a toddler, baby wearing and a backpack diaper bag don't help either I'm sure...) am I the only one? Is this just par for the course? I can't remember if this happened with DD1.
