If my son continues on with something that and I feel I have sufficiently answered, and that he has understood, I tell him something like "please listen, this is the last time I am going to explain X/tell you about X and we aren't talking about it anymore.

DD kept trying to get herself stuck into the arm rest hole of an office chair. Repeatedly squeezing her body into it, getting stuck. Then whining. She just turned 2. Argh.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: :( I was just thinking, "Oh, wow-- that sounds like Ellie." She's really awful lately for repetitive question asking. Like, "When will K come over?" "In an hour." "When will she come over?" "What did I *just* tell you?" But we're improving. I think.

Lorelei has started crying (well, more whining) for no reason and then saying loudly, "Why am I crying?" like she is genuinely perplexed. First it was funny. Now, well... not so much. Yesterday I told her, "Well, if you don't know why you're crying, maybe you can decide to be done now." Oh, the daggers that shot from her eyes!

Sorry. At least you aren't alone?

@swedishfish: see, she listens. She can repeat what we've said, and will acknowledge that we've already said yes. It's like she doesn't comprehend?

"I know you said yes but can I PLEASE?!" just kills me. I'm losing my patience.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: hate to tell you this but I have upper elementary level students who act the same way. They just don't listen and assume my answer will always be contrary to what they want. Hopefully it's just a phase for C though!

Oh. My. God.

The last few weeks have been nothing but crying, whining, demanding and WHYing.

We are losing our minds. She asks a question, gets the answer she wants then complains about it. Example:
Chloe: can I have a sleepover at nunnys and pop-pops?
Me: yes! You can!
Chloe: BUT I WANT TOOOOOOO. PLEEEEEASEEEREE!
Me; I already said yes, Chloe. Yes, you can have a sleepover.
Chloe: PLEEEEEASE MOM I JUST WANT TO!

OMG.

It's like this for everything lately. Today there was a meltdown over whether we can play outside (we can), if we can ride bikes (sure!) and the sleepover.

We say things like, "we already answered you" or "do you remember what I said?" and "did you hear me?" and she will answer and even repeat what we've said.. But it's like our words don't sink in?

Tell me this is going to stop!!
