Background: started TTC age 26, lost our first, diagnosed with PCOS and low morphology for DH, got pregnant via fertility tracking+clomid+metformin+progesterone, , had LO1 at age 27 and now 32 wks pregnant at age 29.

1. After you had a miscarriage, did you have recurrent miscarriage before successfully getting pregnant?
Yes, I got pregnant about 8 months later, using aforementioned methods, I did the same thing for this pregnancy and thankfully it only took one cycle.

2. Did you change anything about your health with trying after a miscarriage? No, not really, though I cut down on soda. My weight is normal despite PCOS, otherwise I'd work on that.

3. If you had a miscarriage, did you have any underlying fertility diagnoses prior or discovered after miscarriage?
Discovered after.

4. Was your OBGYN supportive and accommodating if you got pregnant after a miscarriage? If so, in what ways?
We did three rounds of beta HCG testing and a 7 wk ultrasound. I wanted another one at 9 weeks and he strongly advised me against it saying i't was unnecessary, but eventually sent me to a separate place for it

I’m so sorry for your loss.

1. My next pregnancy after miscarriage resulted in my son.

2. Yes, I was taking diet pills at the time and while pregnant learned they could harm the baby. After I miscarried I stopped taking them altogether to increase my chances of a future healthy pregnancy & baby.

3. No underlying issues. It took us awhile longer to get pregnant again and I saw a fertility specialist for the uterus dye procedure. There was no physical reason why I would have issues.

4. I switched doctors, but would say the obgyn group that cared for me during my pregnancy with my son focused on me having a healthy baby.

I was told to wait a full cycle before trying again. I tried to jump right in, but needed a few more months before starting up the OPKs.

@Stardust17: I was 37 when I was diagnosed. My Obgyn ordered the testing after 6 months of trying unsuccessfully. They tested my AMH and FSH. My FSH was borderline high and my AMH was very, very low, even for my age. After that I was referred to a fertility clinic who ran a few more tests to rule out anything else and then diagnosed me.
ETA: yeah, I liked the acupuncture, but have no way of knowing if that is what helped in the end. My egg quality was poor which is why I had the miscarriages I assume. So in some ways it was just a matter of waiting for the right egg that was good.

@Stardust17:

First of all, I am so sorry for your loss. Miscarriage is absolutely heartbreaking. :crying:

So, I am going to answer your questions and the ones you asked @travellingbee:

Age--29 at time of losses, currently 33 and 9 months into TTC #2
1. I had a chemical pregnancy our first month TTC and then got pregnant the next month we tried but that ended in a loss at 11 weeks and required a D&C. I got pregnant the next cycle with my kiddo.
2. I changed nothing about my health. I lost a little weight because I was taking better care of myself.
3. No diagnosis. We are in the middle of testing for ttc #2 but there was no diagnosis for my losses before, just bad luck.
4. My OB told me to wait 3 or 6 months or something ridiculous like that, but all my research told me that 1 month off was good enough. She did give a little bit of a hard time until she saw that we had just had a healthy ultrasound.

As far as testing goes, you could have your FSH and AMH tested to get a better picture of your follicle quality and health. And for acupuncture, I started thus cycle for stress and LOVE it. I am so bummed that they have been out of office for a couple weeks. I really dislike needles, but it has helped to minimize stress so much.

@travellingbee: thanks for your openiness. Out of curiosity, are you willing to share your age?
I’m wondering about possibly having a diminished egg reserve—is there a test they do to check that?
Clomid was on our list of options before I miscarried but it was b/c I started with some irregular cycles in July but then November was normal, got positive OPK and then pregnant. During the irregular cycles, I had an ultrasound and blood work and everything was normal.
Do you recommend acupuncture?

@Stardust17: I did have two back to back miscarriages then took a short break and finally got pregnant with our second child and it stuck. I was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve before the miscarriage. They didn’t change anything about my health but I did acupuncture and eventually went on Clomid. Yes everyone was very supportive and understanding of my anxiety early in pregnancy. By the time I got pregnant with my sticky pregnancy I was working with a fertility specialist rather than my regular OB/GYN .

Ok ladies, it keeps deleting my actual post...I’m going to try and paste it to this thread and hopefully posters will see and respond.
Thanks!!

I lost our second child at 8 weeks and had a D&C last week. This has been such a painful and heartbreaking journey for me.

I’m almost 36 yrs old and have a healthy 18 mo old and want so badly to have another child.

I “struggled” for 11 yrs with no definitive explanation as to why I wasn’t able to get pregnant but after meeting my 2nd husband, and not using protection or prevention, we got pregnant naturally 3 yrs into our relationship. Had a great pregnancy and labor.

Now here I am wanting to try again (planning on waiting a full cycle) but I’d love to have some feedback on a few questions. I’ll warn you—I may have more questions 🙈

1. After you had a miscarriage, did you have recurrent miscarriage before successfully getting pregnant?

2. Did you change anything about your health with trying after a miscarriage?

3. If you had a miscarriage, did you have any underlying fertility diagnoses prior or discovered after miscarriage?

4. Was your OBGYN supportive and accommodating if you got pregnant after a miscarriage? If so, in what ways?

Thank you so much ladies. I feel so lost but this site has been such a ray of hope for me!
