Austin will get some more rain this afternoon/tonight, but then our forecast is for at least 4-5 days of sun!

This was my backyard and door on Monday -- water level with the base of the door (about 5" off the ground). Unexpected pond, but luckily no damage.

Praying and thinking of all those being affected by these horrible floods. There's patches of flooding in lots of area neighborhoods and roads are being blocked off. Luckily our cars are okay for now but my relatives who live in the suburbs of North Texas had their cars flooded overnight. The water drained into the sewer system by morning but the insides of their cars are all wet.

I'm in far west texas and it's fine here, although we have been under severe drought the last several years so the rain is welcomed. My dad lives off a lake in Far far north Dallas and it has been horrible flooding, the worst since 2007.

@nana87: where was the beach house? We lost ours on bolivar in 2008 to Ike. It's sad to not have the house. We didn't rebuild couldn't afford to rebuild anything compared to what we had. So we sold the land to the state. That way there will never be anything built there and will always be our beach!

We are in North Houston are okay. But not more than a mile from us the river is flooding homes.
We just got word that they are about to let water out of Lake Canyon. We (my parents) have a house on the river in New Braunfels and we think it might get close to flooding it. For sure it will take out the deck, outdoor firepit area and possibly the outdoor kitchen.
I'm still praying that they find some of these missing loved ones safe!

The DFW area took the hit overnight (still not as bad as Houston, Hill Country, etc), but we got 3-6 inches of rain and many roads are flooded this morning. We've now surpassed the May record rainfall in at least this area of Texas. And more rain is forecasted for the weekend.

I'm so glad to hear everyone on here seems okay! My parents are both originally from Houston and so I have a lot of family-- mostly elderly-- still there, and we've heard of at least two elderly family members who have been flooded out of their homes. One had to be rescued by the fire department! My grandparents' home was destroyed by a hurricane over a decade ago and my mom is having all those really depressing memories come back alive again from watching this on the news and hearing from our family

I'm in Austin and we are fine here. There were several tornados that touched down in the surrounding areas. Part of the downtown area was flooded, lots of businesses flooded out. I've never seen this much rain for so long here. The large lake here has gone up 26 feet in 30 days. It's still not full, but the islands in the middle of it are starting to disappear. I'll try to find some pictures to post.

Eta: We got more rain today. 2 inches in 2 hours. Plus a mile away from me there was hail.

My hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted! We were ok this time around. Two weeks ago the storm hit my area in SE Houston really hard, and a poor man drowned. They found his body in the bayou right behind my neighborhood. Thankfully, my house has been ok through all this but so many others were not so lucky. I hope Mother Nature lets us dry out for a while now.

There isn't any flooding in my part of Houston. We lost power for a few hours yesterday because of a downed power line. That's all I have to complain about so I am very lucky. We had to drive home in the storm Monday and it was scary. We made it home safely, but many people didn't. My hearts go out to their families. :( It stormed again early this morning and it's supposed to rain again. I hope it stops soon.

Thanks for thinking of us! It's been pretty crazy -- we actually got stuck downtown on Monday and eventually had to check into a hotel because every route we tried to take home was flooded. This is not a river but the highway I take to work shortly after the storm. We're lucky that we live on the second floor so no flooding. I feel so awful for everyone who has lost their belongings and for the lives lost :-(

I'm in Austin and there is flooding everywhere. Our animal shelter got surrounded and the kennels were flooding. We currently have a Jack Russell terrier being fostered here and I volunteered for the clean up effort.

We've had about 8 tornado warnings and one touched down not too far from here. It makes me nervous as we're on a construction site so lots of possible debris - dumpsters, bricks, etc.

@erinpye: glad he got to at least land, I wouldn't have wanted to be in the air on Monday with that rain! The city is back to running back normally today, so hopefully he has better luck!

@MrsLonghorn: Glad we don't get the tornado sirens in Houston like you guys do in Dallas, I think that would definitely scare me more than bad flooding and rain!

@rattles: I can't even imagine losing it all and starting over. I was talking to my husband and wondered if we have Flood insurance and how much because if you lost if all, what would be covered!

I live north of Houston, and so far we're still high and dry, but the weather has been super scary the past two nights. I hope we'll be done after today.

So glad to hear that everyone is safe!
We are fine up in Dallas - lots of rain and tornado sirens (which scare my non-Texan husband), but no damage.
