As a parent I think I'd be so torn about texting! On one hand you want to know everything is okay, but on the other I'd be so worried the kid was hiding and the phone wasn't on silent and texting could put him/her in danger. As a teacher every time a story like this comes out it hits me in the gut. When I read the news report on Friday I was in tears, and reading the 1 year stories from Sandy Hook... We practice lockdowns, but I dont know what I would do in a real lockdown! I hope that I never have to deal with a situation like this.
