I was really happy to give him this moment. I had saved a draft "It's a ___" email that he then filled in and sent out, and he did a really good job with it - put all this cute stuff in about his new son. They came wearing blue and bearing boy gifts. We took an hour as a little family before DH went out to tell them the news. He didn't say "It's a girl!" - just announced her name and weight. My mom's first thought was apparently "what a funny name for a boy..." So probably it will be a text with the sex and the name to family and close friends all at once. I remember when my brother sent the announcement about his son, I was on a conference call at work and almost started crying-- I had to mute the phone! He didn't get to see the reaction but it was still great. We did that and it went really poorly. My mom thought I said Laura and she was delighted at how pretty it was. Not so much at the correct name. We announced to DH's family over the phone too. And we got a text as soon as we hung up, "What is her name? He stayed with us to cuddle for a bit as a family of three. We had our family in the waiting room and when LO was born DH snapped a picture and texted it to them. We did skin to skin for an hour so they had to wait to see her in person and we wanted them to have something to hold them over. </p> <p>Next time we'll be team green and we'll probably do the same thing, but this time say his/her name.
