@NaturallyCathy: We have a hand me down swing but it will only go front to back since the way the sides are. Bummer I would have tried the side to side.

@Smurfette: My eldest had a swing that did both, all you had to do was turn it around up top where the arm connected to the motor. He preferred the side to side too. Em doesn't seem too particular since her swing only does front to back.

Yay! Vibrations didn't do it for my lo. But swinging did.

@Smurfette: do you have side to side or front to back? My lo only liked side to side.... We had to go buy a new swing.

Not sure why this is working but after an hour of trying to put DD to sleep and instead of blissful slumber, I just keep getting repeated wailing - won't take a bottle, won't nurse, pacifier only soothes for a little while, jostling/rocking/patting isn't working, neither is humming, swaddling is just keeping her from flailing around... etc.

Finally, out of desperation, I plunked her down in her swing and turned on the calming vibrations and the swing. For now, at least, it's making my fussy baby calm and I'm grateful. Now to see how long this lasts...
