It sounds like an email is the right way to go.

@PinkElephant: I get the point about not allowing organized gifts. Only one message went out about it and it said contributing is optional and the card will be from the whole class. I thought it was a open ended enough to not be too much pressure.

@Mrs. Carrot: my DDs schools don’t allow the class parents to organize holiday teacher gifts - something about when the class parents organize it, the collection can appear to be mandatory/there is unfair pressure to contribute, so as a class parent I’ve only organized year end gifts (after unknowingly doing a class holiday gift my first year and getting busted, haha). So don’t feel bad!!

@Litebrite: I’d honestly feel kind of guilty if a parent in one of my kids’ classes got me a gift for being class parent. In the past I’ve received gifts from the teachers - a poinsettia at Christmas, or a cute photo collage of my child at year end - but nothing from parents. A quick email or text is really kind and affirming, especially if you or your kiddo really liked a particular party activity and you want to tell the class parent!

I'm a class mom and no one reached out to me and I honestly didn't even think of it as a thing. Though your post did make me do a double-take on the fact that I didn't organize a gift for the teacher, just got one for her from our family, so clearly I'm killing it at the class mom thing lol

I think a nice email would do! I volunteered to collect money for teachers gifts for our class; that was my way of thanking the class moms for doing all the other stuff!

My big kid is in kindergarten and there are 3 class moms that do all the organizing, like the class holiday party and holiday gifts for the teachers. I appreciate the time they take for this...this getting them a thank you gift too much? Or maybe just a nice email?

Does anyone else thank the class moms?
