@californiadreams: gift card is a great idea! I used to work in a daycare and sometimes the parents would give us a gift card fot somewhere like tim hortons that we all used for those much needed coffee runs. it was perfect.

@californiadreams: Oh wow! Yeah, I guess you'd better go nut-free. The "goodbye party" is a cute idea!

@ms.line: ironically, i do know one of the teachers has a severe peanut allergy....DH once dropped off LO with some toast and peanut butter because he didn't have a proper breaskfast! He didn't know he wasn't supposed to! Teacher said she herself could have been in the hospital in addition to any potential kids with allergies. So I guess that's why i am hesitant to bring food. But perhaps if it is fruit or individually wrapped items, then it will be okay.

I might also do the nut free cupcakes for the kids if it is not too late to order them so they can have a little "goodbye party" for LO on his last day there.

@californiadreams: I would imagine those rules are in place because classroom treats are going to other kids. I can't imagine the staffers themselves have such restrictive diets.

@californiadreams: We sent in chocolate covered pretzel rods with sprinkles on them that were individually wrapped when he moved rooms. I had a friend make them for me since, I am incapable and they were a hit!

thanks everyone. i think i will do the food idea. I had thought of it briefly before but i know they are strict about bringing food in because of allergies. For my son's birthday i was allowed to bring cupcakes but they had to be from a known nut free bakery. I was thinking to maybe order from that same bakery again, but if it doesn't work, maybe i can pick up a fruit basket or something that is generally allergy-free.

We left our son's home daycare 7 months ago when we moved to a new city. We did a card and a box of pasteries (from an amazing local bakery). They loved it. I think food for everyone to share is a good choice in this situation.

If you don't have much $$ to spend send in a couple dozen bagels or donuts - pretty cheap but a lovely gesture!

I think a card is a wonderful gesture, especially if your LO is old enough to color in it or even write their name. If you want to go above and beyond that, I agree with @ms.line: that a food gift would be appreciated.

I honestly think a thank you card is enough, but if you wanted to do something "extra," I'd drop off a fruit basket or some doughnuts.

My DH and I've talked about this recently since we will be moving next year. We absolutely love his daycare and he will have gone through 4 classrooms by the time we move (and spent time in some others on days we can't pick him up until closing). We are going to have lunch catered for all the staff when the time comes.

We are moving this week and so this LO's last week at this daycare centre that he has been going to for the past 10 months. During that time he has been in 3 different classrooms so has gone through plenty of teachers. We have been very happy with the daycare and our experience here so I want to give them a card or something. My question is whether or not a card is enough? I don't have the time or money to buy individual gifts for all the teachers that have worked with him, and I am not sure what kind of gift you can give a centre in general?

Does anyone have gift ideas or think a thank you card is enough?
