I would wait til the gift arrives, but if you want to get thank you notes out of the way, I think it's fine to send now since they sent you that picture.

I received something similar from my co-workers. They printed out a picture of 2 items from pottery barn that were being sent to my house. But I thanked them ahead of time before the gift arrives. Honestly I think it's totally fine either way. :)

I would send it. Say something like "I'm so excited to get the new car seat " so they know you don't have it yet, but then you won't have to worry about it.

i voted to wait until you received the gift. however, IF you want to thank them before, i say you thank you for the gift and say you can't wait to receive it!

I would thank them for the warm wishes and tell them you are excited for the car seat to arrive because it will be so handy to have and was very thoughtful of them. Once it arrives, I would thank them again to let them know you received the gift. I agree that thanking them now might remind them to send the gift in case they haven't already.

-- They did not attend the shower- they sent the card with DH's aunt, so I can't even thank them for attending the shower!

I think I wod just go ahead and send the thank you now. Their intent was clear and it doesn't matter if they deliver on the gift or not, you still want to thank them for their presence at your shower.

I voted wait until it arrives. I had a wedding gift (~$500) that I had sent a thank you note for, which never arrived. The gift giver assumed it had arrived based on the note and didn't know to file a lost package claim and missed the timeline for dispute. :(

ETA: Do thank them for attending the shower. And then again when the gift arrives.

I would go ahead and send it out. Since you know what the gift is and you can thank them for it specifically I don't see any reason why you should hold off on sending the thank you note. And hey, if they are dragging their feet on getting it to you maybe the thank you note will be a good reminder : )

I received a card at my baby shower from my DH's two cousins with a picture of the convertable car seat that was on our registry. It said that they had purchased it for us, and would get it to us soon. I wrote all of my thank you notes the week after the shower, but didn't write the two for DH's cousins. Should I wait until I get the carseat, or go ahead and send the thank you note when we haven't gotten it yet?

I orginally thought to wait until we got it, but now its been 2 weeks since the shower and I'm just now sure now.

What would you do? Write it now or wait until we get the gift?
