homemade pita chips (cut middle eastern pita, the thin not puffy kind, into triangles, bake at 350 w/ olive oil and seat salt until crisp and golden); a braided string cheese (that has been strung); roasted red peppers. always a hit!

I like a lot of previous suggestions, like the cranberry brie bites, veggie pizza, and pigs in a blanket. Some other ideas:

Candied nuts are fun to add to a cheese board

https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/blue-cheese-stuffed-bacon-wrapped-dates/

@SupernovaJ: ooh I have seen that caramel apple one on Pinterest and it looks soooo good. But not like a right before a giant meal thing for me, like a mid afternoon indulgence.

@Mrs D: I was thinking of pigs in a blanket too. I know my kids won’t eat much turkey so it’s a way to get some protein in them before all the carbs and sweets.

Cranberry brie bites:

And this might be better for after meal snacking, but this caramel apple cream cheese spread is always a party favorite and so, so easy to make:

I've made all of these to take to parties before and they were easy and big hits. The tartlets were especially popular and looked fancy.

https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/mustard-dill-tortellini-salad-skewers

For these I just used store-bought mini tart shells. Super easy:
https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/pear-havarti-bites

ETA: I also take Pillsbury crescent rolls and scoop store-bought chicken salad into each roll, roll them up, and bake them off. SO easy and people love it.

pigs n a blanket (kids LOVE)

Spinach and Artichoke Dip, either with chips or flatbread! It can be wanted up in a minute in the microwave. I just buy the pre-made from the grocery store and everyone loves it.

Dips and cheese balls are always good. My go to party app/snack is this veggie pizza, made ahead and served cold- I top it with some shredded cheese, it is ALWAYS a big hit, and not too heavy.

How is thanksgiving next week?!

SIL and BIL are hosting in their new place this year and she asked me to bring an app or two. I always struggle with this on big holidays because a big meal is coming up so i don’t want anything too heavy.

What are your favorite appetizers before a big meal? She’s going to have cheese and crackers, and I am thinking I’ll bring some veggies and dip, and something else. Maybe a thin flatbread cut into little pieces? We live 45 minutes away and I don’t want to heat anything there because she will be busy enough in the kitchen.
