This year was smooth, but one year on Thanksgiving day my elderly grandfather fell and split his head open, and had to go get stitches, he came back just in time for dinner with his poor head all stitched up. The same year the power went out, and we had to take food to a different family member's house. It was kind of a crazy Thanksgiving!

My dog is ok, but she has a huge hole in her face. So sad. We just got to dinner and it's long over, but I'm sure they saved us some.

Your poor dog! I hope she gets better soon!

My dinner really did not turn out as planned...I have certain dishes I make every year. When I opened the bag of potatoes that I bought just a few days ago, I realized that they'd already sprouted! So no mashed potatoes. And apparently I used a bad recipe for stuffing, so no stuffing. Between the two of us we ended up eating a pound and a half of brussels sprouts!

Oh no! I hope your poor dog heals well, and that you make it back in time to join in some of the dinner (your family wouldn't have held off for you for a bit?).

You poor thing! A speedy recovery to your pup!

Nothing major here so far.....but my family had a year when I was in college where someone died, had a medical emergency, or some kind of traumatic experience on every. single. holiday. For a year! It was beyond crazy.

This afternoon we had just arrived into town with our baby and our dogs. Stopped off at my parents house (where we usually stay) and had let the dogs run around their big backyard. So then we start gathering up to go to my mother in law's for dinner, when we look out and find our dogs utterly drenched in blood.

Turns out our great Dane had chased an animal through the blackberry bushes, and had an enormous laceration on her face. And a bunch of little ones all over. We pack her off to the emergency vet, where they want to sedate her and clean her up. So now we're having lunch at Shari's to wait it out, which is just as sad as it sounds. Hopefully then we can go to dinner, which started an hour ago.

Anyone else have a thanksgiving disaster?
