Ruined? Not yet. But I'm sure it is coming. This year we were going to stay at home for Christmas, because DD is old enough we would have to buy her a plane ticket and DS's stay in the NICU was a little rough on the wallet. But, my brother offered to buy us all plane tickets to come home for Christmas. When my DH told my MIL that we were going to be with my family for Christmas and not stay here she, CRIED! Even though she never once said they were coming here for Christmas. In fact, every time we would bring it up she would say, "we aren't thinking that far in advanced." Well apparently she was. But, I was really worried about our Christmas (and DS's FIRST Christmas) being ruined, but hopefully it will be good now that we are going home for it!

GL with Thanksgiving and your MIL..... ugh.

Aw sorry to hear! Weddings planned during holiday weekends is a huge pet peeve of mine. We have specific traditions for almost every holiday and I hate when they get ruined.

That is a weird day to get married!

My ILs have not yet ruined a holiday, but they do some things that make me not look forward to going there. Last Christmas we were told to show up at a certain time, which we did with gifts in hand, but the house was empty! Eventually his dad showed up & told us his mom was at church, his sister was working, he didn't know where BIL was. He told us to take our presents with us... Yea, awkward Christmas! Why tell us to come over then?!? Oh well, when they are there, his grandma likes to grab my belly and ask 'why this empty? Why you no make me baby?' it's always a good time :/

nooooooopppp! My nightmare came true. My MIL has been threatening marriage to her 27yr old boyfriend (only a 25 yr age difference) since August. Well today she picked a date.... The day before thanksgiving. Ugh who gets married on a Wednesday before a big holiday, in a different state. I don't want mayo and Doritos on my turkey.

I know I am being a little unsupportive but I plan things in advance and can't take change well. I always have thanksgiving at my grandmas and then go black Friday shopping, every year. Ugh :(

Anyone else have holidays ruined by inlaws?
