Heck, I just did a presentation two weeks ago and I got lots of compliments.. never thought it meant anything other than what was said.

Soooo I'd say forget this self doubt and reading into the compliments and take them at face value, just like all other pp's said!

I hate that women do this to themselves!! be proud and confident :) you killed it!

@Corduroy: Just want to reiterate everything others have said. Take the compliments at face value. You’re hearing you killed it from lots of people because you legitimately killed it. Whenever I tell a colleague they did well it’s because they did, especially if they’re in a new role/going above and beyond what I’ve seen from them before.

@Corduroy: ya fuck the negative self talk. You killed it. Walk around with the confidence of a middle aged white man :silly: they’d just be like high fiving and getting beers

@Corduroy: umm, I’ve literally never felt the need to tell someone that they did a good job after a presentation unless they did an actual good job. Don’t overthink it!

@Corduroy: I think also, when people give compliments like that, they are like "dang, that had to have been nerve wracking, that must have been hard!" When I have heard it, it seemed to me it was coming from a place of empathy and admiration rather than sympathy.

@Corduroy: I was going to say EXACTLY what @pachamama: said ... then I read her response [so I am in no way "original" here. 😉😂 - she is correct, though!] I'll just state: " Yeah, that!...." [in agreement with PachaMama] and say that I am certain you performed beautifully if you were able to even [remotely] garnish an accolade. 😁👏

Now, wait a minute!!! They said you did a good job! Why not take that at face value?? 😊

...and then too many people tell you reassuringly that you did a good job. And you realize you must have come across and nervous and unsure of yourself if so many people felt the need to reassure you afterwards.

I just had that happen and I hate that. I really thought I did a legitimate good job.
