We have a crane drop and a vicks no filter cold mist. They both work just fine. We use distilled water only and then clean with vinegar 1-2x month during winter.

Venta Airwasher = AMAZING

It's not a cool mist one, doesn't ever get too damp, lasts ages, easy to clean.... It's a life saver for small spaces.

Air-O-Swiss, from Bed Bath and Beyond. I've had it for about 5 years now and it's still going strong.

We just bought this Air O Swiss one and like it so far: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004FO9P8U/ref=pd_aw_sbs_201_3?ie=UTF8&dpID=41tRc9gz%2BkL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL100_SR100%2C100_&refRID=0J5072C8FMXS9ZK7FZS3

I really wanted one with a built in hygrometer so it would shut off when the proper humidity is reached instead of just continually running. And it got great reviews!

We have the Crane penguin for DS' room and we have a big Honeywell one with the filter for our room. The Honeywell uses a lot more water but it doesn't seem to get very dirty maybe because of the filters you have to replace. We use filtered water from our Culligan tap and clean the penguin every other week with a little dish soap and a Clorox wipe.

We have a Crane penguin in D's room. It gets emptied every few days and then I clean it with vinegar every 2-3 weeks. This will be our 3rd winter with it and I've already had to replace it once (Crane replaced it for free!). I couldn't find a Crane adorable I liked for Babygirl's room, and was going to get the drop shape, but the reviews on it weren't great. I ended up getting this one for her room instead. I like that it has a built-in nightlight and an oil diffuser. She's not due yet, so we haven't used it, so I can't offer personal testimony. But I liked the reviews. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013ELRDL0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01

Another vote for the Crane - small footprint, no filter...I empty it every couple of days and clean it with vinegar every 2 weeks. I use tap water

We have the crane and just do what it tells us to do; I think to clean with vinegar. We use it every night in the winter and probably clean it every 2 weeks. We've used this all last winter with this routine and no issues so far.

ETA: we also just use tap water. and I like that it looks cute

Our humidifier that I bought last year is leaking all over, but the humidity is actually helping both LO and me breath better, so I need to replace it.

Recommend a humidifier you like that is really easy to clean. Also what is your process for keeping it clean and mold free? Daily, weekly cleaning? Only distiller water? We will only use it when sick mostly, though come true winter probably a little more often- we haven't even turned on our heat yet!

I ended up sleeping in bed with C last night since we only have one (leaky) humidifier- sharing a bed with a toddler bed hog was better than the drier air in the master!
