First of all, being pregnant is SO much easier than caring for a baby. So stay pregnant as long as you can! My first baby was 9 days late and I was induced. Second baby was 4 days late and I was induced after going to the hospital and my contractions stopped. My third baby was 7 days late and this time contractions started on their own the night before my induction appointment. With each I had lost my mucus plug/had the bloody show (is there a grosser term?!?) and still didn't go into labor. Final conclusion, the only true indicator that the baby's birth is imminent: true, hard, consistent, contractions, or your water breaking. Other than that, scheduling the birth!!

My major tip off was when my water broke. I was grumpy my last few weeks, so no indication with mood or nesting.

My husband was trying to schedule his work for the next day and called to ask if I thought anything would be happening in the next day. I told him that I was giving up guessing when it would happen... and not even 24 hours later my water broke!

@artbee: My BFF went at 37.5 weeks and she said I should wait as long as possible and hope s/he stays in until 40 weeks. I'd love to have him/her right on our due date though, that would be perfect timing for DH's family to be there :)

I thought that LO would come before her due date because she dropped early, her head was low down, and the doctor told me at every visit that she felt like that would be my last visit with a baby in my belly. So I also analyzed everything and hoped she would come soon, I walked constantly, tried every food that people said would make me go into labor, etc.

But she waited until her due date and I'm glad she did. I had no worries that she wouldn't be fully "cooked," and I had more time to enjoy my pregnancy (I miss it so much now) and be with my husband without having to worry about a LO all the time. Your time will come, the baby will be here before you know it, but babies come on their own time so you might as well sit back and relax while you can!

Also, I had no warning that she was going to come. At 10 pm I started getting contractions and they started getting close together pretty fast. I had LO at 2:09 the next day.

@Mrsbells: I thought the same thing, not expecting it to be early, but the baby dropped this weekend, and now things just feel different so I'm getting all in my head with symptoms.

@winniebee: I know... it's hard to believe how fast it went! But it's just like the TWW, wishing and hoping to feel something different that gives you a clue into something over which you have so little control!

@prettylizy: I'm not there yet, but this is pretty interesting! Also, I remember when you got your BFP and it seems like JUST yesterday. Crazy!

Is this your first baby? A lot of people seem to say that their first baby came on time or late so I'm kinda not expecting my baby to show up until her due date or some days after. I'm 34 weeks now

I've just realised how I've come full circle through this whole pregnancy and now I'm right back where I was during my two week wait at the beginning.... over analyzing every single twinge and hoping it means something more. I'm 37 weeks, and considered to be full term so this baby COULD come any time now. Every little cramp I get, every odd feeling that over the course of the pregnancy I've becomed almost immune to noticing now I'm scrutinizing.
Did anyone else do this? Looking back, what were your major tip offs that baby was on his/her way?
