We're starting this today, and I'm very hopeful! We had gotten into a habit of only nursing to sleep, and then she would wake up after 20 minutes wondering where the boob went. For today's first nap, she slept 40 minutes, but she went down without nursing and without any crying! That's a success in my book!

@tequiero21: What I got from it (didn't get the book just talked to other moms that have used it) 90 minutes after baby wakes you lay them down for a nap and the 90 minutes after they wake from that nap you lay them down for another nap and so on and so forth. So it's a semi-structured parent/baby led schedule.

The first few days DD was only sleeping like 15-30 minutes each nap & took 15-20 min to get down, but now she sleeps atleast 30/45 for two naps (1 morning, 1 afternoon) and usually has her longest nap of 1-2 hrs for her second nap and then another 1-1.5hr for a long nap in the afternoon. She's taking 4 naps a day now, up from NONE to MAYBE 1 nap a day (well 20 min catnap).

I also haven't had to do any CIO & she goes down fairly easily! I always put her down different than the last way: sometimes we nurse to sleep, others I rock, pat her bottom, use the white noise, etc.

I'm ecstatic! lol

@Mrsdaredevil: @runsyellowlites: the real question, what is this 90-minute program??? and what is this book? sounds veeeeeeeeeery interesting! i'm trying to lengthen my kids' naps too. first nap of the day - 30-45 minutes. 2nd is finally longer - about 1.5 - 2 hours or so. and if i'm lucky, nap #3, but not lucky much.

@Mrsdaredevil: One week into it and DD is like a completely different day baby! She gets about 3.5-4 total hours with her second nap usually the longest.

I actually cleaned house today & got 2 projects done for work and DH wasn't home!

I'm so glad I saw this suggested somewhere! It hasn't worked well for DH if I leave him with her, but I'm sure just like everything else he'll find his niche the more he does it.... I think she's just a total daddy's girl now and plays him to hold her the whole time. lol

Today is my second day of it and so far it has worked great. Yesterday LO got 3 hours and 20 minutes of sleep and usually she only gets. 1.5 or 2.

My lo is a pretty bad napper too, naps for 30 min at a time, with one 2-hr nap in the afternoon if i am next to her. I dont know much about the 90 min program but i have found that that is generally when my lo gets tired!

After seeing it mentioned on one of Mrs.Bees old post I'm trying it out!

at almost 5 months old, DD is great when it comes to going down for bedtime but is TERRIBLE with naps! It's so clear during the day that she isn't getting enough sleep and we're ALL paying for it! Lately she'll only take ONE loooooooooong nap a day and it's late in the afternoon requiring me to lay down with her for an hr and then sneaking out where she sleeps another 2-3 hours. Yea, I didn't like the idea of a 4 hours nap from 3-7pm either but I know she needed sleep. lol

So today is day one of trying a 90 minutes up and then naptime plan. So far she's down for her first "nap" and it only took 15 minutes of me calmer her, patting her, and rocking her to do it!

I guess we'll see how the rest of the day goes!
Any other terrible nappers out there?
