@tororojo: I think I noticed the first stretch mark under my bump at around 25 weeks? They were pretty gradual after that, it was kinda like I had one and it just kept inviting a few more "friends" every week although I don't think I got any new ones after about 36 weeks.

@Kemma: I am so fascinated by those pictures! Thank you for sharing. I guess mine aren't very noticeable in comparison...yet! Did they appear gradually or all at once? Your bump looks like it went straight out to the front--you're so narrow from side to side!

That's exactly where my permanent lines ended up after my son was born (5 years ago). He was 8 weeks early, too, so I'm scared to know what new lines are going to be showing up with this pregnancy. I'm already past the time when my son is born, so from here on out, I'm just gonna keep stretching!

@tororojo: well seeing as you asked, here's a pic of my bump at forty weeks and a pic at 14 weeks post partum (I delivered at 41w 2d). To be honest my stretch marks don't bother me too much and they're definitely fading!

My stretch marks went from all down the sides and below my belly during pregnancy to all over my belly postpartum. They're still there and visible when I shower and look in the mirror. I wasn't expecting it.

@photojane: No linea negra, that's an up side! I have one and it bypasses my belly button , goes around to the side then continues up and down the middle. So weird!

@Mrsbells: That placement sounds so artistic! :) So interesting how it's different for everyone.

@tororojo: I haven't had an swelling and no linea nigra, but a nice collection of dark red stretchies across the lower half of my belly. I'm not surprised at all, though. I have very sensitive skin, and am crazy prone to stretch marks. I already had some skin-colored ones near my belly button from puberty and years of fluctuating weights. My mom has tons too. The upside to expecting them was no disappointment! Now I got my battle scars just like my mama.

@Foodnerd81: I don't think I'll be revealing my tummy ever again...not that I showed it off much in the first place, either!

@Bao: Thank you! Maybe I will learn to love the battle scars.

@2PeasinaPod: Thank you! There are definitely stretch marks though and they're red, which I didn't expect. (I thought they would be skin-colored?) Interesting that your linea negra is still there--surely that will fade at some point, I would think?

I'd still rather carry it all in my middle! I'm pretty much assuming that my bare midriff days are over, stretch marks or not. Mostly because my abs were nothing to brag about before and I don't see myself getting that diligent with the ab work post baby anyway.

@photojane: Really, all over? I'm so intrigued... I'm weirdly fascinated by pregnant bellies these days. I'm a little scared of what it will look like postpartum (I envision a popped balloon)

@MsLipGloss: Thank you! Part of me is anxious to see how tough it will be to shrink back down postpartum. Glad you didn't get any marks! But not being able to fit into clothes is no fun.

HOLY CRAP, last night I just noticed angry red stretch marks all along my waistline right above the band of my pants, and I'm sad because I thought I managed to avoid them! I am posting a pic as a PSA because I have been wondering exactly where they would appear if I got them. I have been slathering lotion all over for months and don't think I could have done anything differently, but if you're wondering where to concentrate your stretch mark cream, maybe this will help you! Did anyone else all of a sudden notice stretch marks? This pic doesn't do them justice...when I turn and the light catches them I notice more and more, eeeeeek!
