@Mrs. Jacks: That's my thought exactly. By putting her own life in danger she is not doing what is best for the 19 children she already has who need their mom around!

Not a fan at all. I agree with what @lindseykaye: @MsMini: @FarmWifeGina: all said. Im also uncomfortable with all the praise they get for having kids who are all well-mannered and well-behaved all the time; that's not always a good thing, and raising such submissive girls with gendered expectations for higher education always raises my hackles a little

I watch their show (and have for years) because their lifestyle is just so drastically different from my own. Really I feel like it's a live-and-let-live kind of thing regarding how they grow their family even though I disagree with a lot. They raise good citizens (like pp mentioned some of their older kids are first responders, firefighters, midwives, etc.) and Michelle really does seem to have a gentle demeanor and way of raising them.
I don't agree with their older kids having such a large part in raising the younger ones, I don't agree with their decision to risk her life (and other future babies lives) by continuing to risk another pregnancy, and I don't generally agree with the way they homeschool (again older kids teaching younger, mostly online programs, limiting access to subjects based on conservative religious beliefs, and seemingly no encouragement towards higher education).

I think that they are basically hoarders of people (their kids) and that there is some likely some psychological issues feeding into it all. The fact that they rely on their older kids to raise the younger ones is also disturbing to me. If you can't raise them yourself, don't have them.

Their lifestyle turns my stomach (kids raising kids, etc) but they seem nice enough people. They still make me shake my head, though, and I'm sure there's a TON beneath the surface.

I actually grew up near them. They are incredibly kind people, and give a lot back to the community. I've heard rumors of some disturbing disciplinary practices (like 'blanket training', i.e., slapping a baby with a ruler if they get off the blanket they're placed on) but I've heard JB and Michelle speak on many occasions and they've never mentioned anything of the like. I don't know why some people hate them so much.

I love them. I think that they have blessed the world with 19 amazing children. Their children are fire fighters, first responders, and eager to jump up and help out. They aren't on any government assistance either. They have good morals. I heard they are looking into adopting soon because it seems Michelle cannot have anymore children. I think that's wonderful.

I love the Duggars! Yes, they have lots and lots of children, but they are great and loving parents. They are not in debt, they built and own their own home, and they work hard to get out and have their kids see and learn new things. And though the older kids often help with the younger kids, they seem pretty joyful about it. I think we can't criticize the amount of kids a family has, especially when they are loving, caring, providing, and financially responsible. Unmmm, yes... I like the Duggar family :)

I'm a little torn on them. I like the mom, she seems really sweet. And I guess in general they seem like a nice family. But I worry that they're indoctrinating their children in the extremism of their religion and they don't really have a genuine choice to leave.

@Smurfette: I totally agree! It really bothers me that they've made their older children raise their younger children. They can't possibly spend enough quality time with each child individually.

ETA - but they do seem to be nice, law-abiding citizens  the whole concept of courtship is strange to me but I guess it would make sense to someone who has been raised that way. They can't kiss until they're married?

I like them as people...they seem like a really nice family with good values. I don't even condemn them for having lots of kids, because I think that they are able to make these choices for themselves, and they're all great kids.

But, I think they make too much of a spectacle of themselves.
