I voted for push tike... though we have something like a push lawn mower toy that LO loves! We also have the wheely bug and LO rarely touches that or use it correctly since we have gotten it and he's 15 months old...

Our LOs are the same age! Mine is turning 1 in just a few days :) Time sure flies. I'm saving this thread for ideas.

But so far, mine doesn't seem to be interested in blocks at all. She likes her kitchen (what we ended up getting her for her birthday) but whats she's really interested in is being outside. Just being able to walk around is super fun for her right now.

My LO doesn't care about her blocks. We received Uncle Goose ones before the she was born, she is one now and still doesn't care! She loves her music table best and the xylophone is a close second.

Thanks everyone for the responses!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: eventually we will! But budget only permits a few at a time for us!

I think for now we'll do a dump truck, wooden blocks, and a xylophone. Grandparents are handling the cozy coupe and the push trike for us!

I'm also hoping to afford a kindermusick class as part of his first BD gift.

LO will be one next week. After researching it to death, her big gifts are going to be a water table and a Pewi Ybike push toy/ride on toy. We are going to do a play kitchen for Christmas when she will be 18 months.

I voted for the push trike, play kitchen and easel...I think they would be the longest-lasting toys that your LO can enjoy to a degree now but really love in a couple of months until he's in preschool and beyond.

My LO is almost 16 months and we've had the play kitchen since he was 10 months and the Radioflyer wagon since he was 1...both of which he loves. I've considered getting an easel...and I think he'd use it since he likes to colour on the windows with markers and on a giant pad of paper with crayons.

I think the table in chairs are a great item to grow with the child for many years. We got one that doubles as an art table with storage inside (the table top can be flipped between a white and chalk board).

LO LOVES his activity cube, even now at 2! He has had it since he was 8mo old and really started to use it just after 1.

I also think any of the blocks, wooden or megablocks, are great for now and in the future.

I voted for the items that I think would be best for 1-2 year old.
Push trike, coupe, cozy coupe, play kitchen, learning tower, table & chair, art easel.

All the others I thought were more appropriate for younger than 1 and the wheely bugs are just too dang $$$ for what it is!

For our LO of the presents she got for her 1 year she loves her piano, her drum (it's a real drum for kids), and her pony.

She doesn't look twice at the megablocks or wooden blocks. She doesn't really care about the play food and other things yet.

I voted for:

1) Some kind of ride on toy (like the cozy coupe)
2) Play food/cups/bowls
3) Learning tower, but could be substituted for a simple stool or chair, but she loves to "help" cook.

Wooden blocks have been our biggest hit. Also the Melissa&Doug sorting blocks. Any ball is a favorite too, I really love the Little Tikes over the door basketball hoop at 17 months.

He doesn't care about trucks or kitchen stuff yet. He likes our small activity cube ok, and is just getting coordinated enough for chairs.

My son was really into his activity table at one year, the kind with a bunch of buttons and things.

In our old place, we had a kid table in the kitchen, my son would help me cook from there a lot. He'd get the pots and pans, pour oatmeal back and forth, dump the milk in, put the grape tomatoes on our salads, etc. He loved helping.

Our LO has a trike, play kitchen, blocks, cozy coupe, activity cube and kid sized table. And to be honest, the thing HE likes the most is the blocks. He will sit there forever and stack blocks.

My 1 year old doesn't LOVE any toy. Except for sticks. From that list, I would say she enjoys blocks the most. She also likes transferring objects, so maybe the dump truck would be good.

I voted wooden blocks. We have the father goose ones. He got them for Christmas (9 months old) and we still play with them nearly every day.

I considered saying push trike, but using it is limited to weather so unless you're in a one season climate (summer), I think that something like blocks may be more versatile.

We did get a $15 easel from kea but he's still too young for it so I would say that's more of a 2 year+ gift, as well as maybe the table/chairs.
