I love the book and the original movie, and I really loved BL's version of Romeo and Juliet...but I feel like the true Gatsby era is already SUCH a spectacle that even a modern interpretation didn't need to be so over the top and garish. While I didn't like what the they did with Gatsby, I still enjoyed seeing it (esp. as the countdown to my time with DH as a twosome is coming to an end!), so it was nice to go out on a date. I will say it wasn't as amazing as I had expected - love the story, love Baz Luhrmann - but I still loved it and would see it again. I didn't see it in 3D, we went to an early screening, and one thing that irritates me about 3D is that there are some visuals that are obviously done for 3D. It didn't take away from the scenes but was noticeable.
