I like to spend no more than $4.00 on leggings or onesies. No more than $8.00 for a sleeper, $10.00 for pants/tops, maybe $12.00 if it's a sweater. No more than $25 for a dress, maybe $30.00 if it's REALLY cute.

So far its been mostly hand me downs. If I have to shop I will go to a consignment store. I always sell things there for store credit so I don't have to spend any actual money.

I don't think I've paid more than $7 for a piece of clothing...and anything I've bought at full price has been with reward money from Old Navy. I haven't bought a ton myself yet, but whenever I see something cute on clearance I look for the appropriate size for that season and get it.

@mrskc: It is, thank you! That's my $22 outfit right there that I will easily be able to sell for close to what I paid for it. So at the end of the day that outfit will cost me maybe $5.

Most of DD's stuff comes from Target, Old Navy, H&M, Baby Gap, Carters, Osh Gosh, and some Kohl's. Play stuff/daycare clothing I never spend more than $7-10 because she plays rough. Nicer stuff I will spend more & I shop sales a lot.

I try to only buy things on sale- baby Gap, Osh Kosh, Old Navy, Target, sometimes on Zulily. I don't like cutesy pink girly stuff, so it's harder for me to shop at consignment sales. I recently bought DD a baby Gap dress for $25- but it's hard for me to justify anything over than that. We do get a lot of hand me downs, which is great- but honestly, I find I dress her in the same things over and over, and a lot of clothes just don't get worn. And luckily if I find something I love that's a bit more money, my mom will buy for her. But DD would be happy wearing leggings and her one Yo Gabba Gabba shirt every day.

I found that I need a good stock during the week so I don't have to worry about laundry, so that means at least 7 tops and 7 bottoms.

The main issue I have is that the stuff looks worn out so fast, my son comes home with mystery stains every day from daycare, and I am not that great at laundry, so stuff def. doesn't get returned to the wear pile as often as it used to. I am a big fan of Gymboree these days, the quality is great plus they are having a 40% off sale, so I got things for $4, brand new.

I buy used as much as I can--i'll go to big consignment sales and stock up. But then I don't feel bad if i spend $60 on headbands or buy a nicer $30 dress that feels overpriced.

I try to spend as little as possible. We get tons of hand-me-downs from my sister so normally I just have to buy a few items like socks, onsies, and sleepers. She had lots of very nice things so we don't even need to buy special outfits. I usually only spend a few dollars on each item that I buy.

I tend to buy most of his stuff from Carter's or H&M, which is fairly cheap from the get-go. But then I always try to use a coupon or a coupon code or wait for a sale. I don't really have a set "limit" per se, but typically if something is over $15, I try to wait for it to drop in price.

@fussygal: If you get a lot of hand me downs, you really don't need to buy much. We get hand me downs from one person--my SIL--but her daughter was born opposite season so we've been able to use very little of it. We also didn't have a shower, so we've had to buy everything ourselves.

And still, I'm finding that we usually need less than I buy, even though I don't buy a lot.

I buy used or on major sale. I splurge occasionally, but keep it below 15.00 per item. I like to spend no more than about 7.00 per item (which is why I buy used).
My LO has a closet full of Tea, Boden, Gap, and Polarn o Pyret- but it was purchased used, or on major sale (more than 50% off).
I will buy more expensive winter gear, but that is kind of a necessity. But I still shop on sale for things like woolens and outerwear. I got her a 100% merino wool onesie and pants for like 20 bucks at the end of season sale at P.o P.- such a deal.

I stay at home so I have more time (too much time) to search for deals and good used items at the local consignment shop

I never spend more than £5 on either a top or trousers/leggings. Usually I can get a set of 2 for that price. I'll consider spending more once she's 1-2yrs old and is in things for longer.

Depends on my mood and how much I like the item. I usually only buy on sale or with a coupon or both. She has a decent amount of some more expensive brands but most were purchased used or on super discount (or by my mom, lol). I try not to go over $20-25 per outfit.

When she was little, nearly all her clothes were used or gifted.

For the most part, definitely no more than $5 a peice. Especially because at the consignment sales I love to go to, I can get like 5 pressies for $3, 2 dresses for $3, etc. If it is something really adorable that I had in mind for something specific like a holiday, I might go over though. It's just not worth it to spend much on baby clothes because they are hardly worn!

I buy lots of Carter's on sale and let the grandmas but the more pricey stuff from macys, Gymboree, etc! I have splurged on a few items like special occasion stuff from Janie and jack (for photos.) But to be honest we get clothes for Xmas/bday and from grandmas often enough that we don't buy all that many. We recently bought a bunch of 2t stuff and that's the most we've probably ever bought. Hopefully they last!

When he was <12-15 months I never paid more than $5-$7 an item. But it was easier to shop major clearance when I could buy whatever sizes were on sale. Now that he's bigger and I have to buy his specific size, it's more difficult. I will pay $10-$15 an item but prefer to keep it under $10 if possible. The secondhand stores around her are pretty grody and don't have nice things at all, so I pretty much have to buy all his stuff new. I only shop gap armed with a 40% off coupon though.

@fussygal: as in my LO's age? Well, around the house, as an infant E would always wear jeggings and onesies - they were inexpensive and she did a lot of rolling, scooting, then crawling which cleaned my floors :) but her clothes did get icky by the end of the day. She still wears pretty much the same as a toddler now, leggings and t-shirts but she's a different kind of messy...less drooling but more spills.

Nicer outfits, worn in front of family visiting, to church, certain family events, I would keep her in for a few hours and then change usually. Especially when she started solids at 6 months.
