But before that we had some amazing days relaxing at our pool or beach all morning and then having an early dinner and going over to the boardwalk which is filled with rides perfect for my sons age (almost 3). It was beyond fun to see him enjoying the rides and being proud of himself for going on new ones and realizing he liked them. Then getting ice cream at the end of the night. Perfection. We went hiking, boating, swimming. Even went into the little city nearby to visit the fish hatchery and museum. Even though it was 100 degrees during the day we still had a lot of fun. @josina: what kind of camper do you have? DS had so much fun between the park, swimming, playing in the sand, and just getting to be outside all weekend. Going again this tonight through Sunday and excited to be making lots of memories. Both DD's were occupied the whole time and there was a huge yard/field and a playground. It was amazing not feeling like I had to be constantly on the watch. Surrounded by family is awesome. We had probably 60-ish people there and they all knew my girls because they were the littlest ones there. We also spent a few hours swimming in Lake Huron that were pretty awesome. She loved the extra time playing with her cousins and grandparents. On July 4, we set up a splash pad, kiddie pool, and bubble machine in our front yard to make our own homemade water park. Most kids like her do though. Her donors went through IVF but were never able to conceive. They have an 8 year old daughter they adopted as an infant. She and DD became instant friends. I'm dreading the grind of going back to work soon---I totally feel like I'm on the hamster wheel during the school year and summer is such a nice break with my kids. Having said that, some of my favorite things this summer have been day trips to the beach, trips into the city, just bumming around town and having play dates. Sigh. Most days have been good days. Maybe one of the best nights was the free corporate night we went to at the Bronx Zoo. Even yesterday was fun---I took the girls to the Children's museum and then to a playground in Central Park, then my husband met us after work and took us all out to Meatball shop for dinner. I was surprised that my 3 year old did great and asked to go back again! We've also enjoyed some really nice meals on restaurant patios. My 8 month old doesn't usually do well at restaurants but he loves being outside so it's a win win for everyone. LO said it was better than Disney World! We just had a great time exploring in nature and experiencing that adventurous, satisfied feeling. Can't wait to go back.
