Maybe being a mom who does things a bit differently, I always feel judged. I had a long cry a few months ago after the realization that some of my closest friends probably think I'm an idiot ... "I wouldn't do a home birth, because any crazy person could just say they are a midwife!" - Really, you think moms just go with any person off the street? It was so insulting ... But, it was totally dolphin assisted! :wink: </p> <p>And others who will say "breast is best!" to my face after we struggled so bad with all of that, and decided on formula. </p> <p>So yeah, I don't know ... Sometimes I feel like just checking off the internet for good. Previous posters were spot on when saying this doesn't seem like a real life thing, mainly an internet thing. All of these are options that each family make to have a healthy happy child. </p> <p>@cookiemonster- I was in the same boat as you and felt extremely "bullied" because I wasn't a EBF mom. My son would have been in the NICU much longer had I had to feed him from the breast. All I know is that they have mailed me a crap load of samples, which I appreciated when I had to add extra calories to LO's milk when he was in the NICU/needing to pack on the pounds. The baby friendly stuff drives me batty. Being FED is what's friendliest for babies, be that breast milk or formula. Maybe if I had my child wouldn't have starved for the first week and wouldn't have had to be rehospitalized because I just can't produce milk- a fact I knew might be an issue but lactation consultant after lactation consultant scoffed at when I reached out. I still, six months later, with a happy healthy and beautiful baby, have guilt that I can't do what's "best" for her. I experience real life judgement every time I buy formula and the back of the can tells me it's inferior to breast milk. I get looks at Costco every other time I buy it. I had a friend stop talking to me because I formula feed- she knows why and still avoids me at all costs. That's pretty... Far fetched. I don't even see those ads often. I think it's usually based on if they want to breastfeed they try that. If they want to FF then they may do their own research to pick the brand they like best, or who their pediatrician recommends. Moms especially first time moms research everything from food to what spoons to use to feed babies for crying out loud. I don't know who would see an ad for similac and choose them based only on that and not their own findings. My hunny shares his opinions but knows I look into things a lot more, so he trusts my lead usually. </p>
