We use our nursery all the time- because it doubles as our office too. Our time is spent about 50% in the living room and 50% in the nursery hanging out. I am very happy that we chose to make the room more hybrid- if it was all baby, we would hardly ever use it!

We didn't use his nursery for the first three months, we changed him in there and that was it.

Now, we're in there all the time. He seems to love playing in there. He sleeps in there, is changed in there, plays and we always do his laundry together in there (he plays on the floor while I fold). He loves it. We're in there all the time.

My LO's closet is a mess too, but I try sooooo hard to keep it clean! It's just the second I open those closet doors she is in there messing it up, taking things out, etc. So I usually just end up giving up and thinking I'll do it on a weekend when DH is there to entertain her, but weekends are always busy.

We do use her room though. We use all of our rooms really for her to play in. There are toys everywhere and we have a tiny house so it's nice to let her crawl from room to room. We also use it for diaper changes.

Our nursery is only for sleeping. Otherwise, we are mainly in the family room and kitchen.

We didn't set up a nursery since we are moving in a month (LO is 4 months) but we probably wouldn't use it. LO is in a co-sleeper with us. We keep the wipes, a portable changer, and diapers in the pockets of the co-sleeper. We have her changing table set up in the living room since we primarily spend time in there. The extra bedroom is just storage for now.

We didn't use it for the first 5 weeks, but once we got our son sleeping in his crib, we used it a lot! The changing station is in our bathroom and now, at 20 months, we play in there quite often. Our apartment is all on one floor, so I bet that makes a difference, too.

We use the nursery a lot, actually. We don't use it for play time, but we use it for diaper changes, nursing, reading, sleeping.... He definitely associates the nursery with sleeping most though. When we go in there and he's tired he just starts crying because he knows it means sleep time.

We're basically the same way. LO sleeps with us, so the only time she spends in her nursery is when she gets changed. Since she doesn't even use the crib, half the crib is taken up by clothes that don't fit her yet.

In all honesty, the nursery has mainly been a "showcase" room. It's nicely painted and decorated so its pretty and guests can see it, but it's not a room that we actually really use as a functional space. Our rocker is in the living room, too.

I hope the people who are spending tons of money and stress deciding on nursery decor use their nursery more than we do; honestly most of the large $$$ items have not really been necessary; except like I said, to make the room pretty when we show it to guests lol ;/

I don't have a baby yet, but I don't think that sounds unusual--you're busy and living is supposed to take place in the living room! While you're pregnant you're bombarded with perfect pictures of perfect nurseries and you get a picture of how life will look once the kid is here, but I know for me personally at least, most aspects of my house and life don't look like they came out of a Home and Garden magazine! I don't think we'll have a perfect nursery, and in fact, if we stay in our current apartment for awhile then we won't have a nursery at all! I bet you'll get better use out of it once he's a little older.

I wonder if I am alone in this or not. We don't use DS's nursery at all, except to change him and he sleeps there. It's become more storage for stuff we moved out of the living room when we baby proofed, extra toys, and all the clothes and baby gear that he has grown out of that I am sorting for my SIL who is preggers.

The disposables we use at night time are in a box on the floor. Dirty clothes get tossed on the floor if our hands are full, until one of us can do a sweep and toss them in the hamper by the bathroom.

We moved the recliner to the living room since I never used it when it was in DS's nursery. We never play in there and he never spends any time in there when he's not in his crib. His closet it a mess and I usually don't even fold his clothes. He's mainly in onesies and one-piece romper things, and he doesn't have a lot, so they usually either get used before they make it to the dresser or I toss them in in a pile and dig through when I need something.

All of his toys and books are in the living room where we spend time playing and reading. I hope I'm not the only one with a messy and un-used nursery.
