Hehe, we just discovered this stroller at Buy Buy Baby and DH had so much fun playing with it! Have you guys seen it in person? It's like something out of a sci fi movie.

I saw it on one of our local morning shows- cool concept, but absolutely no way would I spend that much on a stroller!

My not even 200 dollar Jeep stroller is so easy to fold and can go anywhere, even if I had tons of money I wouldn't get anything else.

They had a baby shower type show on "Ellen" and the entire audience got one of these strollers for free! I would never be able to justify the purchase or afford it. I was so jealous that they all got them!

We could never justify spending that on a stroller we'd have to replace when we had a second kiddo. Maybe if it were a gift we'd use it. There are lots of other strollers that would better suit us (I'm totally crushing on the britax b-ready!) for less $$, but for people who are really into gadgets it might be cool.

It folding itself up would be nice, since I always struggle with that! But other then that, that is a lot of "extras" that I don't need, at all. Plus, I think it kind of looks funny! Not for me, even if I had that kind of money!

Wow. Pretty cool stroller, but the price tag is way too hefty for me. The one we chose folds up using just one hand, so that sounds easy enough!

@venice4504: agreed... and did they seriously call a stroller a "donkey"... really? couldn't they come up with something more pleasant sounding? :)

i do know someone who has it though. she has a toddler and a recently born infant and they walk everywhere in the city, so she needed a double. especially with winter coming up, she didn't want the toddler walking around in the bitter cold... but she said all other doubles wouldn't accommodate her very tall 3 year old except the donkey. she's lucky that her in-laws gave it to her as a gift! still though...

@nycalimama- The Donkey cracks me up. I'm a huge fan on in-line doubles because those double wides can't get anywhere and then you just look like a fool trying to plow your way down an aisle! I think that if you're able to spend the ~$1500 on a Donkey there are a lot of other strollers that you could be looking at and go out to a really nice dinner afterwards.

@venice4504: I agree with your Bugaboo price mention...

Speaking of high stroller prices and the Bugaboo brand though, when I heard that the Bugaboo Donkey was anywhere from $1,200 to $1,700 (after factoring in taxes, accessories, etc...), I thought THAT was atrocious! This Origami one? At least it's the first of it's kind and like you said, comparable to a single seat Bugaboo... I just think it would be interesting to see if its power-folding and generator features set precedent for other strollers coming out in the future...

Ok, I spent the time to look at the specs. It's got all sorts of sensors and I highly doubt that it would ever malfunction and squish a kid. People in the stroller business are not going to make something that intentionally can harm a child.

It's got a manual override if anything did break. It has a two-step fold so you can't just push a button by accident and it folds.

It weighs way too much. It is cool that it has a generator though so it doesn't need batteries to work.

I don't like how at $850 it doesn't have the option for a second seat OR to be able to face baby. The small cargo area is laughable.

The price is no worse than a Bugaboo.
