@Golden: You are so nice. Hahaha... last year in the middle of the Superbowl, my daughter goes, "Let's watch Bubble Guppies!" She got a collective stinkeye.

@Mrs. Train: I love how little sibs always get to see things at an earlier age, ha. My kids are 3 and almost 5 and I think they will probably get to see it soon. I hope they're not scarred. I will cover their eyes during some parts probably. And their ears. Thanks for the tip.

We just watched it a few weeks ago. My boys are 7 and 6 and they loved it. My daughter is 4 and she asks for it all the time now. The only thing that makes me cringe is when Inigo Montoya gets ready to kill the six fingered man he says "I want my father back you son of a bitch" so far the kids haven't really paid much attention to that one bad language example.

7. She could probably watch it earlier but I'm being selfish and wouldn't want to turn it off if she asked for Dora or something instead. I think by 7 she may be interested enough in non cartoons to see the brilliance.

This is a subject of much conversation between DH and I. We both love the movie, but I think the book is superior, so I would want to hold off on the movie until LO was old enough for the book as well. So, it will depend a little bit on his/her reading level - late elementary, early middle school?

Probably middle school. I watched it a ton then and I think that is old enough to get all the humor too. The book is also great!

I saw it in kindergarten and the Pit of Despair scenes scared the sh*t out of me. I didn't watch it again until I was in high school and I loved it at that point.. So I'd say probably middle school-ish?

He's 3y3m, and we've had it on in the background while he's played in the living room. He really doesn't pay any attention to the TV at all unless it's one of his shows or movies (Thomas, Daniel Tiger, Super Why, Cars, etc).

One of our favorite movies, though!!!

@Mrs. Pen: common sense media says 8 but of course there's a difference between when they can see it and enjoy it and when it's OK for them just to "see" it.

This is one of my all-time favorite movies! DH and I quote it constantly, and even J already knows the "anybody want a peanut" line hahaha. I think I'd let him watch it whenever he shows interest. The only part I can really remember that would be hard to watch is when Wesley is being tortured. I remember not liking that part as a kid.

So maybe 8 years old? idk! Maybe I'd have to watch it again as a mother to really assess.
