We started using it at one week (LO is ten days today) and it's herren a lifesaver! She was a bigger baby (I think she weighs 9lbs now) so the fabric has never been too much for us.

@winniebee: we used it until he was about 7 months. He pretty much weaned himself from it when he continued to get his arms free. He was like - mom and dad, time to ditch the swaddle!

@mediagirl: Agree, it was way too much fabric at first since DS was a peanut the first month.

@krsmall: He was 9 lbs a week ago at his 2 month visit so maybe 9 lbs, 5 oz. He'll be 10 weeks on Thursday. He is still EBF and takes about 3.5 oz a feeding and during the day eats every 2.5/3 hours. We try to top him off before bed, too so like last night we gave him an extra ounce right before bed.

That's great!! M doesn't seem to sleep better or worse with a swaddle so I mostly just put her in the Miracle Blanket or Swaddle Me when I think she's cold (aka: when I'm cold). :)

We couldn't use the Miracle Blanket for her first month of life because it was so big, it kept getting up into her face and I would freak out thinking it would suffocate her. First time Mom problems. :)

@winniebee: how much does your LO weigh now? I heard part of sleeping through the night has to do with size of the baby and I know your LO is little like mine.

@krsmall: I just ordered a second so I can still use it when the other is in the laundry.

@skibobrown: From 5:30-6:15 I couldn't fall back asleep because I was convinced he was going to wake up *any second* : )

@kimbed: How long did you use it?

I remember how glorious that first night of uninterrupted sleep was! Ours was thanks to the miracle blanket too. Our son loved that thing and loved being swaddled so we used it as long as possible!

Yay! Isn't sleep wonderful? Our daughter was the total opposite. She started sleeping through the night as soon as we freed her from her swaddle and started her in the sleep sack. She prefers to flap her arms around like a crazy bird while she sleeps. I totally did the same thing the first night... she woke a little bit and started whining at her normal feeding time, and we got her bottle ready. But then she fell back asleep on her own in the meantime, so we decided to just let her sleep.

We have been swaddling LO with his hands out because he breaks out of the swaddleme. Only problem is he smacks himself in the head and wakes himself up. I just bought the miracle blanket, hopefully he won't break out of this swaddle.

I started using the Miracle Blanket when LO just discovered her hand, which was a big mistake. Putting her in the blanket calmed her down and allowed us to put her to bed easily...but there was hell to pay when she woke up to find that she was unable to move her arms!

It sounds weird, but we now swaddle her with one arm out, as well as her legs out of the sack because her constant kicking would eventually get her out of the swaddle. It's worked well so far. Just not as well as you, @Winniebee!

Yes! I am a HUGE fan of the Miracle Blanket! Once LO started breaking out of every other kind of swaddle at 2 weeks, we started with the Miracle Blanket and haven't looked back. It's amazing!

Totally agree- it was a lifesaver for us also. If that works well for your LO you can also do a version of it with 2 regular swaddle blankets. You use one to tuck in their arms and then the other one wraps around the outside. I used to do that for naps because my son liked having his legs out at the bottom.

@kiddosc: Yep, with the swaddlemes, he figures out a way to get his hands out of the bottom!

@Mrsbells: I have tried it a few times before and didn't like it because it seemed like a lot of fabric.

Admittedly, I'm a terrible swaddler. We have 4 A&A blankets and we just use them as blankets because I am a terrible blanket swsaddler!

DS slept from 10:30-7 - a MIRACLE!

He's almost 10w and until this past weekend his longest stretch was 4.5 hours. Over the weekend he did a 5 hour stretch and then a 6.5 hour stretch. Last night he kept busting out of his swaddle when we put him down so we put him in the Miracle Blanket....and he slept 8.5 hours!

I heard him cry a little at 5 a.m. so I jumped up to get him a bottle ready.....but then he stopped crying! So I pumped (and overflowed the 5 oz bottles), made sure he was still breathing LOL then went back to sleep from 6-7 : )
