My first was 18 hrs of un-medicated labor, 4 hrs of pushing, and an emergency c-section. My second was a planned c-section. Brutal. </p> <p>The second time was totally unexpected and insanely fast. I had no signs labor was going to start before my due date. So fast. As in contractions began at 2.5 minutes apart, baby crowned in the car, one push, 2.5 hours total. Incredibly painful. Recovery was a lot easier. My first was 8 hours and 3 of those were pushing. Recovery was okay though.</p> <p>My second was 2 hours and only the second hurt (a lot though since it is labor after all). I had him within 6 minutes of arrival at the hospital. Recovery was great! Up and moving right away.</p> <p>I will warn you about your uterus contracting. It hurt so much more...like contractions. I wasn't aware that it would be so painful but the nurses say it is more painful with each child because the uterus needs to work harder to shrink. Pushing was more efficient and much shorter, although the actual labor time was the same. Harry was 10 lb 12 oz (Char was only 8 lb, 15 oz), and I hemorrhaged afterwards and lost a lot of blood. Well...in some instances, yes! I had way less tearing and no episiotomy. I swear it was because I had dd while I was standing up versus laying down. Was it super painful though? Since I was induced no one thought it would happen as quick as it did.
