LOL, your husband is too funny!!! Hopefully he'll be able to deal with a little more unpredictability once the baby is actually here, because man! Those little creatures are HARD to figure out! Good luck to you both!

Oh wow. Imagine what would happen if you weren't being induced..... it's all so unknown and just a waiting game. That was my least favorite part of being pregnant in the end. And then she came on her due date, so really I should have known all along.

Haha, DH had a similar breakdown. When I went in at 39/40 weeks to discuss induction dates (as you know, C was a very large baby) we had been told to expect to be induced very quickly. Instead, they scheduled me out at 42 weeks like everyone else. lol! We had been told I wouldn't be allowed to go past my due date either, both because of her size and my heart issues. She was measuring 9lbs at 36 weeks!

Haha, the more I hear about your hubs, the more I think our spouses would get along. lol.

DH and I were just saying yesterday that one of the most difficult parts of becoming parents has been completely losing control. We never thought we would be "schedule people" who refuse all plans if it's nap time. But after 6 months with no control or predictability, we're just happy to have a loose idea of what will happen when. I bet by this time next year your DH will be a whole lot more comfortable with lack if control  It's not easy! Good luck with the next few weeks!

@MaisyMay: Oh, he'd have a complete mental breakdown, I think!! We're both really similar in that we do like things to be black and white, nice and organised, predictable... but I guess I've had TTC and this entire pregnancy to realise that I'm not in control. He loves GD - he loves that if I eat well, my numbers are low. If I cheat, my numbers are high. He loves counting carbs and reading packets in the supermarket. If only pregnancy and parenting were that simple!!

Oh poor man! That's funny.

We were given a tentative induction date when I went in for my 8 week appt (high risk with type 2 diabetes), so we kept planning around that, arrange to take time off, etc. About 2-3 weeks before that date, they moved in back a week because everything looked good. Your poor husband would have had a fit with that!

How's he going to handle you going in for NST's if you need them? Those are twice a week! :)

Okay, so this morning, my husband was inducted into the Peanut Gallery. Yes, he said something so ridiculous, it was worthy of inclusion here!!!

I'm almost 35 weeks pregnant now and, today, I'm having a growth scan. I have GD and, as a result, will not be allowed to go past my due date - but how close they will let me get to said due date before inducing me depends wholly on how the baby is doing in there and how big she is looking. Today's growth scan is all part of that process. Simple, right?

As he was leaving for work this morning (he couldn't get the day off to come with me), he turned to me and said "Let me know the date you are being induced as soon as you know!". I said " I doubt they will make that decision today, they will probably ask me to come back in two weeks for another scan".

Well....! He was incensed! It doesn't help that he has agreed to go on a 4 date UK tour with a band he works with (he is a sound engineer) when I'm 37 weeks pregnant and so wouldn't be able to attend that appointment, either - I think he might be regretting the timing a little bit now - but the next thing he said had me rolling about with laughter:

"This whole system is designed around people who have nothing better to do! It's outrageous, them not telling us when this baby is going to come. We need to plan."

This whole system??! What - gestation?!! I think perhaps he had become a little fixated on 31st July as our "due date" and hadn't quite realised that a full term birth could happen any time between 37 and 42 weeks, not to mention the fact that our baby could be born prematurely (I was 6 weeks early!). All this talk of inducing me "early" has sent him into a spin - he needs a date and he needs it now!! I don't know what he will do if they see something they don't like today and decide to admit me! He needs a formal 28 day notice period, it seems!!

When I started laughing, it made him worse and he carried on! "No, with all the technology they have, you'd think that they could scan the baby now and predict when the baby will come, or at least estimate the best time to induce you. But they don't bother because it seems that most people who breed in this country don't have anything better to do. Come back in two weeks, my ar5e. What? What's so funny?"

It just cracked me up!! I know what he means, of course. I spend a huge amount of time at hospital appointments, always at their convenience and never at ours, and I know he is frustrated that he cannot attend everything with me because he has to work. But the idea that they can blatantly predict when a baby will be born but choose not to because they don't respect our busy lives and need for planning is just hilarious!!

Bless him!!   He doesn't deal well with stress and uncertainty.
