Staying late at work, traveling, a lot of our savings, laying in bed for as long as we wanted on the weekends, living in NYC. All worth it though!

@ShootingStar: I need to get better at that, I'm so bad at asking for help :-/ DH is happy to help but I have a bad habit of thinking it's easier to just do things myself -- at home and at work...

We left NYC to be able to afford to raise children. We also don't go out to restaurants much due to daycare payments. Oh well, we'll eat out again soon! So worth it!!!

Spontaneous plans - Either going out to dinner with DH or grabbing drinks after work with friends or co-workers. Everything has to be planned out in advance.

Sleeping in - Even when DS is gone for the night I have a hard time sleeping past 8 anymore.

Lounging around on a lazy Sunday or when I am sick.

Travel. Pre-baby we did a big international trip every year or two. Post-baby we still travel but closer to home and with a more conservative schedule. But, honestly, in some ways it's been a nice change. But I'll be glad when we can get back to doing big trips as well.

Travel and spontaneity. Travel we COULD still do it's just so much easier not to. My MIL or my mom would gladly take our son for a long weekend or even a week but we feel bad doing that more than once a year or so.

Spontaneity - the other night it was nice out, like 60 in the middle of winter. I had a flashback to us taking a late night stroll and getting a beer and ice cream. I miss just being like "hey let's go do X!" and going.

Worth it? Totally. Do I miss it though? Totally.

Sleeping in... I'm lucky to sleep in past 7 on weekends where it used to be like 9 or 10!
Baths are a rarity now.

@Cherrybee: I ask my DH to do solo double bedtime several times a month because of work, and I've had to do the same for him (mostly in the summer when he's gone for work).

I miss sleep. Also, I miss getting up 45 minutes before I had to be at work and still getting there on time. I miss staying up late to sew, running in the morning, running more than 3 miles at a time for a workout, being able to do long runs without having to worry about being back in time to feed someone, etc.

Sleeping in and having lazy weekend days. I don't think we're traveling to Europe anytime soon but all the rest, we try to make time for ourselves whether alone, with friends or as a couple. Sure it takes more effort now but we don't want to feel like we can't do anything fun anymore just because we've added kids to our lives.

We went out a lot in the evenings - around 5 times a week - to gigs, parties, open mic nights, or just the pub. My life has completely changed (I didn't even have a TV before I met DH, now we sit in front of it every night). I gave up music because I can't commit to evening gigs any more; I even had to quit my choir last year because rehearsals clash with the kids bedtime and I didn't feel it was fair to ask DH to do solo double bedtime every week. I had to change jobs because I travelled a lot for work, but couldnt make it work with DH's work schedule post kids. I gave up my gym membership because once the kids are in bed I'm too tired to go. I gave up my vegetable garden because I didn't have time to tend it.

But the only thing I really, really miss is sleep. What I wouldn't do for a decent lie in!

Also jobs. I got laid off last year and I passed up a lot of jobs that required too many hours or too much travel for me.

Movies, a clean house, having nice things (the list of things they haven't damaged yet keeps getting shorter). Feeling fearless (it's impossible when you're responsible for someone small, kind, and not yet aware of all the evil in the world). Too many friendships. Sick days, long walks, and the ability to go on an errand without negotiating with toddlers.
