I have a small one and love it. We have the reusable cup so I fill it with my own ground coffee (lately, Dunkin Donuts). The coffee ends up tasting great to me. I read how terrible the k cups are for the environment, which is why we use the reusable ones.

I got one and love it, I wanted to give an update in case anyone is searching old posts on the topic. I got a K40 with a gift card rebate it was $75 on Black Friday at Target online. M who is a coffee snob has been using it too. I have been using the hot water option for tea. I am going to love this when baby is here and I need coffee ASAP.

@blackbird I attached a photo a bit further up.

@youboots: I think I read about the Keurig on a mom blog saying it was the best thing to have during those early months of parenthood. I used to do french press all the time, but now, making a cup of coffee with a baby in my arms is pretty convenient. I do miss the countertop space. But I don't think the Keurig will be around forever.

I'm obsessed with our Keurig, and we have one at work too. My DH doesnt drink coffee and I only have 1 cup at home before work, so it's just super easy and nice to be able to make 1 cup. On days I am home, I can easily drink up to 3 cups.

@youboots: I have a Keurig, a Tassimo, and a regular coffee maker. Agree with PPs that if you want better coffee, you can buy the reusable k cup and fill it with your own coffee. the bought Kcups aren't that great, although I love the half caf K-cups, just because I like drinking half the caffeine.

I prefer the Tassimo coffee over the Keurig, just because the Tassimo has the milk frothing functionality (they have drinks that come with a separate creamer cup that makes really good lattes, cappuccinos, café au laits, etc). They have a skinny cappuccino that is SO GOOD. Butttt....Tassimo is hard to find in stores so you have to order them online and have them delivered or go to Bed Bath and Beyond.

There are pros and cons to each, I guess.

What's a pour over???

Only I drink coffee during the week, i just make one or two cups. I don't think a keurig is necessary, the coffee is expensive (i like stuff from TJ's more). I just set it to autobrew or if i want it cold, brew it the night before

I love mine. It's the Mr. Coffee one, (says Keurig on it), it was $45 on sale at Target last winter. It's the single serve one and it's pretty basic, but that's all I need. Maybe try something like that so you aren't out as much if you don't care for it. We buy K cups at Sams so they last a good two months at a time, or more.

I don't love the way Keurig coffee tastes. I have a Verismo and the Starbucks milk frother, and I use both of them every single day. (The Verismo also has milk pods, but the frother is less expensive if you drink a lot of coffee.) It brews coffee, as well as espresso shots, and there are also chai tea pods. I absolutely love it!

My husband is a coffee snob, so no Keurig for us. We use a French press (process made quicker with electric kettle). Now that I'm pregnant I use a single serve one for my decaf.

We got one for Christmas and love it, but wouldn't have bought one for ourselves.

We drink a lot of coffee, so while it's definitely convenient it isn't cost effective.

My husband just bought a reusable kcup and has been buying ground coffee again, but I think it's a pain in the butt to have to clean and fill, which defeats the purpose of the convenience of a keurig!

I don't have one but I want one. Very recently we packed away our coffee machine because DH has to cut out the caffeine and used to drink a lot of coffee. So if we make coffee, it will just be for me. I don't drink coffee everyday so don't think I can justify buying the unit. I'll probably get one of those small coffee presses. I'll just continue wanting one everytime I use one.

@MaryM: you can use a refillable k-cup so you don't waste all those little cups! I keep coffe in the freezer & then fill the reusable k-cup.

I also have the cuisinart one, love that it comes with a reusable k-cup & water filter, when we got ours those were extras for other brands but included with the cuisinart. And bonus points for being handsome :)

We LOVE ours. We have a Cuisinart one. DH doesn't drink coffee so I only ever make one cup at a time for myself. It's great not to have to make an entire pot. We also love the hot water feature, which gets used all the time for tea. And we buy tea k-cups too.

@mrs. wagon: Have you tried the Swiss Miss k-cups? They are much better than the other no name brands of hot chocolate.

I don't mind it at work, but we don't have one at home because we're both strong coffee drinkers and I don't ever feel like the k-cups are as strong as our home coffee brewed in a regular 12 cup pot! Love my cuisinart!!!

We love ours. DH is useless at making coffee, so it is a good way to always have a fresh cup of coffee any time during the day. I only drink 1-2 cups a day, so it's not too bad for us. We love the Green Mountain Dark Magic coffee, cause we love our coffee bold, but we love lots of others, also. We stock up with big orders from Keurig.com every couple months and it lasts us a while.

My inlaws want one, but they easily drink through a pot of coffee together in a day, so it wouldn't be practical for them, really.

Our keurig just broke and we aren't going to replace it because we stopped using it-- we use our nespresso instead! Once we switched to espresso the keurig coffee tastes weak, and both tea and hot cocoa are better w boiled water rather than the pods anyway. We have a milk former to make cappuccinos w the nespresso, but I usually just mix it w cold milk to have a cold latte since I'm usually drinking it while nursing so I want it to be cold.

One of the best purchases I ever made. We use it everyday. I bought reusable cups to cut back on waste. You can find pretty good deals on kcups if you watch.

ETA: i think one of the greatest things is it is so convenient when having company over. I could never consistently make a good pot of coffee. This way they can choose their blend.

We got a Keurig as a gift last year. It's very convenient and easy but I feel like the coffee doesn't taste as good. I still use it most days since my husband gets coffee at work and I'm too lazy to set up our big coffee maker and then clean it all up for just one cup.

I also hate how wasteful the disposable k-cups are so we bought refillable ones.

I am the only coffee drinker in the house and have gone through to Kuerigs. The first stopped working well and I returned it. The second is just tucked away because the coffee and teas just didn't taste good. I buy coffee out now, but if I had to do it all over I would just get a small 4 cup coffee maker.

@avivoca: hot chocolate out of the keurig is awful :( hot apple cider is delicious though!

I absolutely love ours and couldn't live without it. I double brew k-cups and we buy them with slickdeals (usually amazon subscribe and save or staples) so it's sometimes even cheaper than bagged coffee. We both drink several cups each day so it's totally worth it for us. I bought ours at Costco and it came with 60 free k-cups.. then it broke, so we brought it back and they gave us a new one... another 60 free k-cups! Score!!!

@youboots: Sorry, I'm not sure I understand the question. You rinse out the cup every day and put the grounds in the cup, so I suppose you'd only want to grind them for that day (or store in an air-tight container.) I use already-ground coffee.

Honestly, if you're picky about the taste of your coffee, I wouldn't go the Keurig route. I think it's sub-par taste-wise. As far as a quick way to get yourself caffeine? It's awesome.

@mamaof2 it's a old fashioned way to brew coffee, it is also popular with Portlanders, my parents have always brewed it this way. See photo.

@jess1483, how many can you make at a time and still have them fresh. I grind my beans every day, but I want to cut out steps, and if I have to do it every day it's not much easier.

@mamag when/where did you get that deal?

@marym yeah I try to live as Eco friendly as possible and it seems counter intuitive.

@avivoca I've had some that are good, but I agree the quality is not my favorite.
