@catlady: I had ocular migraines (and low BP) with both pregnancies. My coworkers actually found out I was pregnant with LO2 when I declared in frustration "Crap I can't see. Here we go again!" The aura I would get was the same as the auras I had in puberty with full blown migraines. I always lived in fear that the migraine pain would come but it didn't. My OB recommended caffeine and sugar so I drank a coffee drink or soda when they would come on. I hope you don't get any more!

Thanks ladies for sharing your experiences. I saw my OB yesterday and my BP was on the low side of normal so she was not too worried. She thinks it may have been an ocular migraine.

Sounds like a visual migraine to me. Sometimes I get the visual aura preceding a migraine. The best way I can describe it is that it looks like rain drops on a windshield, only they're spots of lights.

I had issues like this and had an emergency induction for pre e at 39 weeks. I'd be mindful of this at your next appointment

@catlady: I had this happen throughout both my pregnancies and post partum. My oB said I was having ocular migraines. My BP was fine in both pregnancies as well. It's a good idea to talk to your OB though so they can rule out something more serious.

@catlady: With my first, I had a couple of vision issues that landed me at L&D per my OB where it was discovered that I had gestational hypertension - high BP. Blurry with flashing floaters (not so much lights) and inability to "clear" it upon blinking. This started at 36-37 weeks and I ended up being induced at exactly 38 weeks because my BP did not end up coming down after the second episode. Never actually developed into pre-e, but they didn't want to take the chance I guess. I'm 33 weeks and am kind of just waiting for it to happen again.

I hope you are feeling better and your appointment went well today! And if it happens again, I would definitely get your BP checked. Even though my vision cleared by both times by the time I got to the hospital, my BP was still high.

I had it a ton with my first. There was even a point where I would look in the mirror and could only see half my face. I had pre-e and was induced at 38 weeks. I had some mild flashing and occasional blurs the second time but no high BP or any other issue

I had that in the first couple week post-partum. The flashing light was more like a camera flash stuck in my eye, and it grew bigger over time. I ended up going to my eye doctor, and they said it was a classic visual migraine.

However, if the blurriness and flashing lights come back, you may want to have your retinas checked. Mine both detached and those are symptoms of that.

I had issues with blurry vision in the late first and most of the second tri. I mainly noticed it when trying to read music while playing the piano. I kind of gave up eventually so I don't remember if it continued into the third.

I personally wouldn't worry too much about the blurriness - I think it's common- but I might check my blood pressure if it happens again. I'm not a clinician, but I know vision changes and headaches can accompany high BP.

Hope it's nothing, but can't hurt to check!

I've had slight vision issues at the end of all three of my pregnancies - namely that my contacts didn't fit well, so besides being uncomfortable, my vision wasn't as great as it should have been. No trouble with blood pressure or anything else, but I was also concerned - it's worth getting checked!

Definitely get monitored or checked. With my first pregnancy, I had a moment or two of it, but went away. With my second pregnancy, my blood pressure climbed during the last month to the point of scheduling an induction. LO #2 arrived on his own a few days before it. Since then, I'm still being monitored for high blood pressure issues mainly because of weight and stress. Get checked.

I know that pregnancy can make your eyesight worse in general (this happened with my last pregnancy) but has anyone experienced vision problems like blurriness or flashing lights?

Last night, I suddenly realized I was having problems focusing on text. Over the next 15 min or so, it progressed to the point where I had tons of flashing lights in my peripheral vision in my left eye, and my right eye was just generally blurry. I called my OB's after-hours line but by the time a doctor called me back, my vision had started to improve again so they told me just monitor it and come in if it started again. It ended up going away completely within 30 min and I've been fine since.

I have an OB appt tomorrow so of course I'll ask about it then, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. It was really scary. I'm 36 weeks and was worried about pre-eclampsia, but I don't have any other symptoms.
