@ineebee: this is nowhere near the strength level of crossfit but there are strength building yoga flows. I do yoga & usually some barre (muscle toning at least, again, not nearly in the same way) at least 4x a week. Great job at not letting pregnancy stop you! I totally did nothing last pregnancy & definitely feel the improvement this time around!

@MrsBucky: Yikes, a subway commute after a long day does not sound fun. And kudos for keeping up the weight training routine! It's so hard to keep it up, but every time I'm through with a workout, I feel twice as good as I did pre-pregnancy - so proud that even though I have every excuse to sit on my butt, I did the opposite!

I'm only in my second tri, but I have continued with weight training semi regularly- maybe 1-2 times per week. I'd like to be more regular about it and add prenatal yoga and cardio, but work has wiped me out lately! And my subway commute definitely is enough to exhaust me these days!

@ineebee: Thanks!! :) Definitely google it... I think the only "risk" with squats is bladder related ;) Fairly certain they're fine! One of my former coaches did push ups like the day before she gave birth and I watched her like ahh you're squishing your belly lol! I think "they" usually say walking based on the idea that someone hasn't been active throughout. Or not as active as you! As long as it's not a new workout type, I've been told it's fine to continue, just watching your heart rate and whatnot! A part of me misses Crossfit :)

@LindsayInNY: Congratulations!! I remember you! :) :) And thanks!! I've been told that squats aren't safe after about 24 weeks or so, and at last night's workout, I was like, "All we're doing are squats! What will I possibly do after I can't do squats anymore??" :) I think also DH is worried because all the books he's reading recommend walking in the third tri, so he's gonna feel uneasy about my continuing with CrossFit, which I understand~

@ineebee: First trimester-er here and former Crossfitter. You can totally keep doing Crossfit is you're feeling up to it! I know there are some modifications but likely what you've already been doing. There's a CrossFit mom website I believe? Also google these bloggers who are or did CrossFit all throughout pregnancy!: Carrots and Cake and Corrie Anne (don't remember the blog name but if you google her band and CrossFit it'll probably come up!).

Reviving an old thread! I'm coming up on my third trimester at the end of the month, and I'm wondering if I should change up my workout routine.

I've been doing CrossFit for about a year, and since the pregnancy I've been only going at about 60%, and of course modifying certain exercises for safety. A lot of the suggestions for third trimester exercises are yoga and walking, but has/will anyone continue with any kind of strength training during this time? I'll definitely talk to my doctor about it at my next appointment, but I'm wondering if anyone had any success or ideas about strength training.

I know that walking is highly recommended, but with the colder months coming up (and my intolerance for the cold!), I know I'd rather go to my indoor CrossFit gym and do a fun cross-training workout than take long walks by myself in the snow. Sad face!

@jedeve: I'm also just trying to stay active. The trainer does go easy on me because of being preggers but I always feel better after going! Don't feel guilty, housework can wait :P

@kml636: that's awesome! Is your trainer knowledgeable about working out while pregnant? That would be so neat to do!

I went on a long walk with LO. Not really a work out power walk type walk, just a stroll. I'm going with the "just stay active" plan at this point.

I feel bad because sometimes it feels like I'm choosing between working out and getting stuff done around the house. Like today, going for a walk and now I don't want to mop the floors while LO is sleeping because I need to sit. DH doesn't seem to mind and knows working out is important, but I feel guilty.

I'll join in. I am 31 weeks tomorrow. I work out with a trainer once a week and on most other days I either do a stroller walk or maybe some light workout with the band on my own, but that's it. I hope to keep this up as long as I can, definitely getting more and more tired. I need to try prenatal yoga sometime!

How is everyone doing? Anyone new enter their third trimester? Or start working out? Anything counts in this thread!

Three weeks of the worst cough ever I didn't do much working out. Even housework and chasing after a toddler barely got done!

I'm finally feeling better and went on a really long walk with the stroller today. Definitely went too far - I had to pee soooo bad the last twenty minutes! Now I just want to sit during nap time and watch some call the midwife instead of cleaning the house though. So I don't really know if that is a fair trade off!

This whole week I've been feeling better, and every night I've said I would do a little yoga, but I end up watching the fosters instead on netflix. I should at least make myself stretch while I do that. I feel a lot better when I do!

@jedeve: I hope you feel better soon!! Not sure what the weather is like by you, but one of my favorite third trimester exercises is Aqua Zumba. I did it throughout my whole pregnancy last time and this time I hope to do it right up to the end. Being in the pool is awesome (hello buoyancy!) and with the music and dancing around I still feel like I'm getting a good workout. Plus, DH is not too excited I'm still trailing LO around on my bike, but he never complains about Aqua Zumba :)

I don't want to let this thread die!

I have been super sick for the last week and haven't done a thing. I hope to start doing yoga and walks again if I feel better soon. I'm worried I'll completely get out of the habit. But at the very least I should stretch...it makes a world of difference.

@thismustbetheplace: In this thread, anything counts! I think a walk at lunch sounds like a great accomplishment! I'm 29 weeks and I know what you mean about the weather - I think it's why I've not been as active this pregnancy, since it's just now getting nice out! Do you have any prenatal yoga videos you recommend? I've done Lara Dutta's prenatal yoga video on you tube and really like it!

@beachbee: Mine will be 18 months apart too! I read an article about how being active all day is better than just sitting and doing exercise once a day, so yes - toddler chasing totally counts! http://www.fitpregnancy.com/exercise/prenatal-workouts/simple-way-keep-your-weight-check

@jedeve: I think chasing around our toddlers should totally count as exercise :) LO is 18 months and I've only got a few more weeks to go before we meet the new baby. I've been much more active this pregnancy, I think mainly because last time I was so high risk and on bed rest starting in the second trimester. My favorite exercise right now is riding my bike with LO in her bike trailer. She loves it, and I love that its our fun time together before new baby arrives. It has definitely gotten harder in the past few weeks and now that I'm 36 weeks+ I have to be extra careful, but its such a great workout!

@jedeve: I just got back from my lunchtime walk around my office complex, does that count? The sun is finally out, so if I can get a 15-20 minute walk in during lunch I'm happy. Really, walking during/after work and prenatal yoga are the only things I'm able to do at this point (30 weeks), and I'm ok with that. I know I should be throwing some weights in there somewhere but I'm not a member of a gym and I don't know where to start!

@runnerd: That's awesome! I just do my walks based on time - I don't want to know if my 20 minute walk was a quarter mile!

Seems like I'm battling a bad cough this week, so I think I'm gonna skip any cardio. But maybe I can still do some yoga. I'm amazed at how much a little stretching really combats the crapiness I feel at the end of the day.

Anyone else working out in their third trimester? Anything that feels like a workout to you counts!

I've been trying to walk 2-3mi 3-4x a week. Got 9mi this week, and 12mi last week! I've really seriously slacked off on any strength or stretching exercises since hitting the 3rd tri.

I need some third trimester workout motivation! I've been working out a bit this pregnancy. Nothing too hardcore or regular. The weight has stayed off - I think chasing a toddler and nursing until 24 weeks was the cause of that! But I do feel better when I exercise, even though I'm more limited in what I can do now.

My goal is to do something every day. A yoga video, light circuit workout, or a stroller walk. And to do lots of pelvic floor exercises!

You? How are you working out in your third trimester?
