@Mrs. Sunshine: There is an amazing glass top cleaner I got from our landlord which I also saw at Ralphs. It makes it look brand new. It is Weiman brand. My old house I never knew how to clean it and it always looked bad and stained.

I have gas but I take the burner pans and grates and put them in a bag with a few tablespoons ammonia - set outside over night and the next day it comes right off- looks brand new!!

@Mrs. Sunshine: burner pans soak in vinegar and warm water (has to be warm and a little soap won't hurt), let them soak for an hour and a fiber scrubber may have to be used (non metal scrubber). If it is really caked on the burner, you can burn it off (like you did!) but don't use vinegar on the burners- just soak them in soapy water.

So, last week I was making homemade ghee, forgot that I was making it & it boiled all over the two front burners on my stove. Instead of cleaning it, I've just been using the two back burners, until yesterday when I accidentally spilled chicken juice all over the inside of my oven & the top of the stove (I've been very clumsy lately!) I forgot today when I went to make stir fry for dinner & caught the stove on fire. But I improvised, made the meat into patties, put the veggies on a pan, baked that, & nuked the rice & dinner was saved!

My question is, what are your tips for cleaning stove top burners & burner pans on an electric stove?
