DS does this too and at first I freaked but then a couple of times I went in and got down so I could see through the crib and although it looked it from above he actually had his head turned just ever so slight so he wasn't on his nose.

C has been sleeping like this for a couple of months now! She loves it. I don't worry about it because she can easily pick up her head and the mattress is nice and firm. Don't stress!

My LO does the same thing - I try to look at it as similar to breastfeeding when his face is all smushed against me and he can breathe out the sides of his nose. I don't think there's much you can do, sorry :( hope you can relax about it and get better sleep soon sounds like she's determined to sleep that way!

Same as PP, once B could roll back to belly, we let him sleep on his tummy. He sleeps much better on his tummy then he ever did on his back.

Once T could roll from back to belly, he only slept on his tummy - it was at about 4 months and at first I was petrified, but there was nothing we could do! Our pediatrician said if he can roll there, he can stay there. I always put him down in his crib on his back and let him get into whatever position he wants to be in. Most babies belly sleep when they can roll, so try not to worry!

I had the same problem with my DS. He just turned 4 months and began rolling onto his belly. He sleeps so much better on his belly but doesn't do a good job of turning his head to either side to allow his nose access to air. I stayed up turning his head every 15 minutes and was sooooo tired.

Anyhow, my husband and I decided to invest in a movement and sound monitor. It tracks his breathing and if he is not breathing, the moniter beeps and vibrates to wake up the baby.

Here's the link if you are interested.
http://www.amazon.com/Angelcare-Movement-Sound-Monitor-Deluxe/dp/B002ZB82CU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1368795886&sr=8-2&keywords=angel+care+monitor

We tested the monitor out a few times to make sure that it was working properly. Ever since getting the monitor, I'm able to get some sleep in and it has made a difference in my energy.

LO was a belly sleeper really early on. If she's strong enough to roll over like that, then she's strong enough to move her head while sleeping. She is fine. Girl, you've got to get some sleep! Tell DH to hide the Snuza and trust that she will be okay.

DS started rolling at 6 weeks and from then on we had to accept the belly sleeping. We flipped him for awhile but he eventually got so quick at rolling over that the pedi said there was nothing we could do. I just checked to make sure he could breath often. Tummy sleeping really helped with his reflux which is why he started rolling so early in the first place.

@PrincessBaby: M used to roll belly to back and she has since quit for some reason. Now if she's on her belly she just does a push up and whines for me to come rescue her. But yes, baby's natural instincts will be to get their face up off the mattress. But M always has her head turned enough to the side that her nose is getting plenty of air. I know it looks like H is smooshing her face but I bet if you look really closely her nose will have clearance from the mattress.

@regberadaisy: @MamaMoose: So at 5.5 months, does she have the instinct to pull her head up or roll back over if she's not getting enough air bc of face-planting? She does both super well but I dont know if she will do it while she's sleeping if her air is blocked..

I would just let her sleep on her belly? She seems strong enough!

As soon as my kids could roll, they both wanted to sleep on their bellies and I just let them. This was between 3 and 4 months old.

M started rolling before she turned 4 months old. Once she stopped crying when she rolled in her sleep, I just left her alone. She preferred to tummy sleep!

H keeps rolling to her belly and sleeping either 100% face down for a while or on her hands, face down (she's doing in the picture). I move her, she moves back. We go back and forth all night. I am so exhausted bc I'm so on edge and keep the monitor in my face all night. Plus our snuza went off AGAIN last night, I guess bc of belly-sleeping. It's draining me bc I'm so worried she's going to suffocate!

Does anyone else's LO do this? How long? How did you survive?

This is why I HEART VIDEO MONITORS!!

ETA: I'm fine with tummy sleeping, my issue is that she sleeps totally face-down in the mattress and I dont know what to do:(
