Our pediatrician said if he can roll there, he can stay there. I always put him down in his crib on his back and let him get into whatever position he wants to be in. He just turned 4 months and began rolling onto his belly. He sleeps so much better on his belly but doesn't do a good job of turning his head to either side to allow his nose access to air. I stayed up turning his head every 15 minutes and was sooooo tired. </p> <p>Anyhow, my husband and I decided to invest in a movement and sound monitor. We flipped him for awhile but he eventually got so quick at rolling over that the pedi said there was nothing we could do. I just checked to make sure he could breath often. Now if she's on her belly she just does a push up and whines for me to come rescue her. But yes, baby's natural instincts will be to get their face up off the mattress. But M always has her head turned enough to the side that her nose is getting plenty of air.
