I saw this a few months ago and I think it's beautifully symbolic. Also, we give so much to our LOs; it's amazing that nature has provided a way for them to give back to us!

@BabyBoecksMom: I know. I just think that my little 2 year old is helping to protect me from cancer and alzheimer's! How awesome.

@littlebug: It is a bummer and I know some people experience terrible flares after they deliver their babies. But apparently, studies now show that breast feeding is quite protective against flares :)

@Mrs. Jacks: I love the idea of this! I heard about it on Radiolab (which is the best podcast ever, btw): http://www.radiolab.org/blogs/radiolab-blog/2012/apr/30/fetal-consequences/

That is so neat! I like knowing that a part of her is really still with me. :-)

Very cool. Kind of reminds me of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, but sort of in reverse.

ETA: Also, really interesting about the possible link with MS.

This is a really interesting article about microchimerism post-pregnancy. This may actually be protective to women in most cases (except with autoimmune disease). Fun to think that your baby's cells live on in you-- I guess you really are forever changed after pregnancy :)
