It's good to feel needed and make a difference in a child's life, regardless of the childs age 9-99!

You are needed in lots of places! I know it is hard to leave your LO, but I'm glad that you feel better about it knowing that you are missed in your "other" life too :)

@Rubies: Haha. It's amazing how attached we are to our providers.
As a provider and seeing the kid's regularly I didn't realize how much they missed me when I was gone. It was great seeing a response like that not only because it made me realize how much they appreciate what I provide, but this girl in particular struggles to show emotion so it was a huge stride for her!

I felt this way when my OB came back to work! My OB began her mat leave when I was 6 months pregnant and I was so sad! She came back in time for my 6-week post-partum appointment and I was SO glad to see her! She had given birth to her fourth child so I'm sure she was ready to come back to work!!!

So my maternity leave is sadly coming to an end in 2 weeks. I'm having a really hard time accepting this. I had to go into work today and create my schedule so my patient's can get in there before I get back. I was hanging out in my office with a couple coworkers and another coworker came to my door with one of my patients saying she heard my voice. The girl began to cry and told me what a horrible day she had and it made her feel so much better seeing me. I never thought I would get that kind of a response but it truly showed me how much of an impact I have on these kiddo's and while leaving my LO is going to be hard it feels good to know these kid's need me too.
