It worked better than telling him not to do/say something, because that just made it more of a thing for him to defy me on. I agree with the others about telling her it's scary and may upset other children, so she should say "bad guys" or "monsters" or something more neutral around her friends. It's a great processing tool! But, I can see how other parents may be uncomfortable with that. I'd say to let the teacher know and then take the casual stance of "That's okay at home, but we don't play KKK at school." Hopefully she'll feel comfortable still talking about it at home &amp; other families won't give you grief. If you know the parents well I would just mention what you said above about her being curious. Anyway, they were playing a game and she told them, "Run! The KKKs are coming to get us!" and "Let's hide the Legos, the KKKs don't like them."</p> <p>I have been telling her not to say KKK -- so she usually says the bad people.
