@Mrs. Bee: they have a lot of great stuff for adults, kids and home! For what I think are really great prices. And you don't have to worry about S+H jacking it up like some other sites. :)

OH. MY. GOD. I just happened to go look on 6pm to see what they had in stock. They had the snow commanders I bought last night .. So I clicked on it just to see what size they had in stock. When I clicked on the product page it was on sale for $14.99! One left in the size I need!!! So I just bought them after tax for just a tad over $15 bc they offer free shipping! I'm going to try and cancel my Gilt order.

We did a one piece snowsuit until DD was potty trained, and snow bibs after that. I think bibs are much more manageable for potty emergencies. :)

@Mrs. Twine: I'll have to check that one out! I've heard a lot of good things about a brand from Finland called Reima, but Polarn o. Pyret and Didrikson's are also popular here. I ended up getting mid-season suit from Reima and I really like it - it's light and very well made. Next year, I'm definitely keeping an eye out for their sale. The PO.P snowsuit I got is pretty heavy, but seems really sturdy, plus I couldn't beat their sale price! I'm more inclined to buy whatever's on sale, so finding new good brands help!

I don't think she will play in the snow all that much this year (because we really just never know if we will get slammed or get nothing), but I am leaning towards a bib pair for her. They have some super cheap ones at Wal-mart that I will probably snag. May check TJ Maxx, too.

@SugarplumsMom: I just think they are so much warmer. But I never thought about if you have a hot-natured child. Lorelei is, but I am pretty sure there will be many days of below zero play, and I just feel more comfortable having her in something that can't let in drafts and keeps the snow where it belongs. We have this one: http://www.obermeyer.com/catalog/girls/astro-suit.html-0 for this winter. We really like the brand. We've had Burtons and Land's End as well (well, Ellie has), and Obermeyer is the big favorite all around. We average two seasons' use, so even though they are not cheap, if we buy on sale it is totally worth it!

Definitely a snowsuit for outdoor play. But between bibs and pants, bibs. Here's our snowsuit this year by Polarn o. Pyret. I got it on sale during their 4th of July sale.

@looch: ah, good idea!

@Cole: Makes sense! She's got a 3-1 this year already and another for next year thanks to @T-Mom. So I think I will just stick to bibs for this year then. Thanks for the LL Bean suggestion, I'll check there and Lands End since they seem to have similar products.

I prefer bibs too, I think LL Bean has bibs that have seams inside the legs that you can rip out to make them longer so they last for two seasons.

I think the difference between a snowsuit and bibs is that bibs still require a coat and a snowsuit covers everything, you just need mittens and maybe a hat.

You can get the with adjustable straps, that is what I do. I buy bigger and use for two years.

They're also better if your kid runs hot, as mine does. You can do a lighter top.

@looch: thanks! That's what I'm leaning towards as well. Ideally I'll like to get it big enough for two seasons. But would it be just WAY to be on her this season then?

@Mrs. Twine: what's the difference between a snowsuit and bibs?

I prefer a snowsuit (all in one) because snow doesn't get in as easily. But between pants or bibs I would definitely say bibs.

Thanks to @bananapankakes I scored a deal on a pair of Sorels for my 16 month last night.

Now she needs snow pants or bibs!

For those that live in a climate that gets a lot of snow like I do and have been through a winter with their toddler. Do you find it necessary to do bibs or were pants OK?

Thanks!
