My parents have a pack n play, change area, high chair, bouncy seat and a bunch of toys. Now that the two year old is out of the crib, they have a bed set up for her in "her room". I still feeling like I bring a ton of stuff over (diapers, stroller etc) but it sure helps. They are 1.5 hours away and we visit a lot.

We keep our Baby Bjorn travel crib at my MIL's house. I should pack an emergency bag with diapers, wipes and some clothes for her house.

Sounds like it's a pretty common set-up! Though knowing my mom, she would say, "You know I'm not going to be your full-time daycare, right?" *rolls eyes*

My parents have a crib, pack n play, high chair and a gazillion toys. We can visit them without taking our whole house with us when BGH gets here. :-)

Eta: they live 2.5 hrs from us.

My mom lives 3 mins away and has a nursery for the kids. But she's the only one... everyone else (we bring our stuff)

When LO was very little, we kept a stash of diapers and wipes, plus a changing pad, and one emergency outfit at my parents' home so we didn't have to lug things around.

When I go back to work in September, I'll be leaving more things at my mom's and MIL's place.

My mom has some things, like a pack n play and high chair. But we don't have a full nursery. We just don't spend that much time there, even though she's just 15 minutes away, it makes sense for her to come to us. Much more affordable than buying two of everything.

A couple years ago, my mom was redoing her guest bedroom & told me she was putting in a full size bed instead of a queen because she wanted to have enough space for a crib in there too! We weren't even married yet =D I have a feeling when the time comes she'll have a pretty well outfitted nursery. She lives 15 minutes away from where we are now.

My mom has a nursery at her house....only because she insisted on having one.
My MIL runs an in home daycare so her whole house is already kind of a nursery.

I might add my parents live fifteen minutes away and my inlaws live within walking distance...only two blocks!!!

We each have parents about a half hour away, but neither of them have room for nurseries in their apartments...I figure we'll bring bouncy seat or bumbo or whatever, and make it work! I think whenever they babysit, they would be at our apartment anyway.

Mrs. Jump Rope's awesome blog post about traveling with her 6 month old made me think about this. In the comments, @mrstilly said that she travels with her LO 45 minutes to see her in-laws almost every weekend, and has to pack stuff up. @Mrs. Stroller also mentioned that while her parents are a 14 hour drive away, they have a full nursery for her LO.

When we have kids, we will probably be 30 minutes - 1 hour away from my parents. I know that especially when our LO is really new, it will be easier for them to come to us. Still, I hope to spend a lot of time at my parents' house with our LO. I never thought about the hassle of packing up lots of stuff for a baby, not to mention things like a crib, swing, etc. It might be easier for us to just get these things for my parents' house... have any of you done this? I think it would make it easier for them to babysit, too! :)
