@mrs. bird I just want to say that acupuncture worked wonders for me. I really don't think I would have conceived without giving it the time to help regulate my cycles. it took a lot of money and patience, but so well worth it! good luck!!

I get sad thinking about how all of these costs (preseed, vitamins, fertility monitor, pee sticks, doc visits) are just for the *CHANCE* to be pregnant...not that I want to buy a guarantee. But it's just so hard to deal with when friends keep getting pregnant on their first try and never have any of these associated costs.

Heck yes, it costs a fortune. Between medications, RE visits, pregnancy tests, ovulation tests, naturopath visits, and books, we've spent a fortune. And we're not even knocked up yet.

@mrs. bird: I don't think it matters. I took the pills, just make sure the active ingredient is guaifenesin, any others will dry you up. I took it 5 days before O and 1 day after. I noticed a huge difference in cm once I started taking it. Good luck :)

Ummmm yeah. We spent quite a bit (obviously not even close to the amount of someone who does IVF though). Books (TCOYF, Making Babies), vitamins (D, B6, FertileCM), over the counter progesterone cream, prometrium (lots of bottles…that was expensive since it’s prescription), progesterone in oil shots (also pretty expensive), acupuncture, doctor copays. And that’s not to mention the OPKs and pregnancy tests. I’d buy cheapies but then I’d pay overnight shipping which usually ended up costing us more than the actual tests! I don’t even want to add it all up! LO isn’t even here yet though and we both already know that it was worth every cent.

I've spent around $100 on a book, preseed, and hpts. We spent $300 on my husband's surgery. Then another $400 on tests and doctor's appointments. We have a few thousand set aside for treatments. I don't know how much we'll be spending before we get a BFP.

@mrs. bird: I don't think she markets herself as specializing in it, but I know someone who she got knocked up, so she's capable. :) Maybe it's time to do electro-acu that @jholler recommended.. i did ask her about it last time and she said she can do it, but prefers only as a way to "break out the big guns" because she prefers the body to do it on its own, if possible. Well I can't think about it at the moment, I'm too frustrated with TTC in general now since I don't even know what cycle I'm in at the moment. Speaking of which, did you figure out what's going on with you? I think I'm in the same place now!

@Rachel: i've bought all those pills too and TCOYF! this is my first time with the digital OPK, i've never seen a positive cheapo, which isn't the cheapo tests fault, but i feel like i need the digital ones to confirm if i ever do see one that it's real! do you use the cream to bring on AF? i've had to take the provera pills, but they were horrible! i wonder if the natural cream would be better.... hmmm... maybe something else i need to buy =D

@leelee: holy crappola! i hope our herbs aren't that much! it's $70 a week for the follow ups. honestly, some of the fertility drugs wold be cheaper at this point =/

@JoJoGirl: do you go to an acupuncturist who specializes in fertility? i was going to a regular clinic one weekly, but i'm starting with one that is a fertility specialist. she's more $$, but if she can get me KU faster, it'll save me $$ (or that's how i justified it to DH, lol)

So far, I've only spent $15 on TCOYF, $25 on BBT thermometers (bought 2 since I didn't like the first one), and about $10 on dollar store pregnancy tests. But we just started, so...
However, when I was buying the tests in the dollar store yesterday, another woman walked in front of me to check out, saw the stack of tests in my hands and let me go first :)

DH and I both went to and acupuncturist and were given herbs to take. It cost us about $40 each per week for the herbs and the Dr told us if we didn't get pregnant within 3 months there was nothing else he could do. Well we found out we were pregnant month 3! I was charting and using opk though so it could've been coincidence.

Ha so true! Besides the OPKs (digital and cheapy), I've bought TCOYF for $15, plus tons of pills (prenatal, B6, Mucinex) and about $40 worth of natural progesterone cream so far. I'd pay a lot more than that if it guaranteed success, and who knows, I may end up paying someone (a doctor) way more than that some day if we aren't successful on our own. Sheesh
