My best friend is giving me hers. Same one you got. Seeing as its my BF, I totally am OK with the idea. She only used it for her last DS, and even then she did not use it LONG at all. She gave up on BF really quick ( was not producing enough) , and is a SAHM so she didnt pump that much either. Seriously think it was used a handful of times.

My cousin gave me her old one and I used it. I wouldn't buy a used one or use one from someone I didn't know, but I had no qualms about using hers. And I gave it back to her when I was done and she used it for her second daughter and is giving it back to me to use for my second!

Shoot. I used to use my sister's toothbrush when I was younger so I'd totally use the pump. :P :)

I would totally use it. Just get new parts and you should be totally fine, especially since it's from a family member. Save yourself the money and go for it. :)

I received a Medela pump from my SIL. I talked to the lactation consultants at the hospital and they said that, although Medela says that it should only be used by one person, that it really can be passed down to another person as long as the attachments are cleaned out. They said if I really feel strongly about it, I can even buy some replacement parts for it (for around $50).

I have a PISA, and truthfully, after owning it, I wouldnt have a problem with using a used one - ESPECIALLY if I knew the previous owner. I know its an open system, but if you are replacing the tubing, Id go for ir. IF the milk goes down to the motor unit, its not like that goes back into your bottle. Just make sure you bring it somewhere to check for servicing to see that the motor is working at capacity.

So I received from my sister her Medela Pump in Style breast pump. It is probalby 3 yrs old, as she used it for her two sons. I know that with that pump it is a open system and should only be used by one person. But coming from my sister I feel more comfortable using it than if it was from a stranger. Would you use it (with all new tubing of course) or bite the bullet and by a new one?
