@Cherrybee: yes, I know. Maybe it'll just click one day...hopefully sooner than later!

@emg86: my son is exactly the same. He takes these little cat naps, like 20 min -45min, and if I'm lucky he'll take a nap for 2 hrs. But then I'm thinking what's wrong with him, why is he sleeping so long, ha! His naps change every day! One day he has an awesome day and then the next two are disastrous! P.s....he's actually taking his morning nap right now!! Yay

So I'm following babywise and I'm gonna try to scoot his bedtime up by 30 min tonight and see if he still sleeps to 7am. (I'm usually waking him up in the morning) By the end of the week, I'll try to have him in bed by 8pm. I just hope he doesn't wake in the night or early am...ya know. I'll just play in by ear but I definitely think he needs more night time sleep because his day naps are so unpredictable.

@jh524: At night she sleeps from about 7:30-6:30/7...today it was until 8:30. She will play for about an hour and a half and I notice she begins to yawn, so I bring her back into our room & turn on some white noise and lay her down. Some days she'll take a 2-3 hour morning nap...sometimes it's only 30 minutes. I try to put her down after being awake 2.5 hours or so, depending on her sleep cues. I always cross my fingers that she takes a good nap in the morning cause in the afternoons she barely naps....if she sleeps it's never more than 20-30 minutes. At this point I take whatever she wants to nap and just go with it. We had a few weeks where she didn't sleep at all during the day and that was crazy, so if all she naps is 30 minutes twice a day...well, it's better than nothing, lol.

My 10 week old is just the same! She sleeps wonderfully at night - 8pm-8am with one or two 10 min wake ups to feed (goes down immediately after). If I keep her swaddled and stay in the darkened bedroom when she wakes at 8, just hold her and chat to her, she goes down for her morning nap at 9am no problem and sleeps another 2 hrs but if I change her nappy (which is sodden by this point) I've got no chance! After that, the most I can get out of her is half hour cat naps - she FIGHTS the swaddle, she fights her dummy and as the day goes on she gets more and more tired (this more and more miserable). I'm hoping if I keep practicing putting her in her bed for 2 hrs at nap time, one day it will click???

My LO stopped taking naps at 3.5 months. She'll be 5 months and it's finally better but not great like before. I think it's been related to the 4 month sleep regression which can apparently happen to naps and isn't limited to night sleep. She's been a wonderful nighttime sleeper since she was 2 months & that hasn't changed.

@hilsy85: That would be dropping down to four feedings....I think I'll try and adjust to an earlier bedtime and go back to feeding every three hrs so he gets five feedings a day. I just wonder if he'll wake earlier or actually sleep.

I would definitely try having that cat nap at 8 be his bedtime. Your supply will adjust to the longer stretch.

My three month old doesn't nap consistently and the length varies every day. I've had a good routine going but napping isn't going as planned.

The schedule looks like this....He wakes and eats at 7:00am and nap starts at 8:30, eats at 10, naps at 12, eats at 2, naps at 4, eats at 6, cat nap at 8, eat at 9 and down for the night. He will sleep the entire night but his napping during the day may be 15 minutes here, 30 min the next and maybe an hour if I'm lucky. I've read they should nap for 1.5 to 2.5 hrs. three times a day equaling 15 hrs plus nighttime. He's been so fussy and shows signs of overtired but won't sleep....

Should I put him down to bed earlier so he gets more sleep? He's getting 9.5 hrs a night.

Will it effect my milk supply if I go longer than 9.5 hrs without nursing ?
