@Raindrop: thank you that is super helpful. I've started to push my midday pump back almost by accident Today i moved it to 4 and wasn't uncomfortable at all. It has gotten so hard midday; her naps are unpredictable or don't happen (and it's so hard to pump now that she is more active).
I'm having some guilt over dropping it since I will likely have to supplement. Which I am totally ok with but still am having a hard time actually doing it!! But I have to remind myself how long I've succeeded in sticking with pumping.

I am an EPing since the start. I was pumping 25ish ounces a day (3 pumps a day) at 5 months, just enough to keep LO on mostly breast milk and supplementing before sleeping. My schedule for 3 pumps a day was 6 am / 1pm / 10 pm.

Then at 7 months I dropped to 2 pumps a day which resulted in about 20 ounces a day.

I have 8am / 9pm pumping schedule. I just dropped my 1pm pump and pumped at 9pm that day. It hurt a bit but I was able to make it.

I don't know about you but my weekends aren't that busy so I dropped the pump at the start of the weekend so if I needed to I could pump if it was too painful.

Edit: as a side note when I switched to 2 pumps a day... my period came back and every time it has showed up it has decreased my pump supply. FYI.

@ElbieKay: thank! Yeah I think it was a day I was either rushed or was not paying attention and had the flange off center and suction too high (?) ugh.

I have no idea about EP.

But I needed to use the Pumpin Pals shields AND lubricate them with olive oil in order to pump "comfortably". Just putting that out there in case it helps.

So I'm going back and forth on dropping a pump. I exclusively pump (I have since LO was about 4 months). She is 8 months now. I pump only slightly more than she eats, 24-28 oz over three pumps. I haven't really bothered with a freezer stash because I have a lipase issue and my milk tastes God-awful (and honestly scalding was just another thing, ugh). Anyway, I'm considering dropping to two pumps. I have an awful open blister on one side which won't go away because it keeps getting re-irritated.
Has anyone dropped to two pumps? Did your supply tank? What was your schedule? 7a/7p?

Or a more general question: is it better to drop that third pump more gradually (i.e. Push it 30 min a day) or just move it to the evening and get on with life?

I'm going to change the flanges to hopefully help with the blister (when I say blister, I don't mean a bleb). It's about 1cm away from the nipple itself )
