@LadyDi: my older son does! I'm not sure my little guy has yet... but my kids are pukers anyway. If they have too much mucus in their throat they'll throw up, if something tastes weird, if they don't like a texture, if they see something gross, etc.

My baby has the same thing. Doctor says its upper respiratory infection (viral). But he's thrown up twice. I think it's the mucous and coughing that initiates the gag reflex.

My now 7.5 year old was a fever puker as a baby. If it helps, she definitely outgrew it!

@bees_knees: @muffinsmuffins: I didn’t know this about ear infections! My toddler, who also threw up a couple of times this week, has a double ear infection.

@bhbee: Thanks. I have a feeling this one might just be a puker.

@bees_knees: was going to say the same! My youngest actually had no or low fever but was miserable and throwing up with every drink and meal with what turned out to be a nasty double ear infection over Christmas. Started antibiotics and he stopped throwing up within a day.

Oh man my oldest used to be a huge fever puker. I’m happy to say it has improved now at 7-8 years old! But through kinder she pretty much threw up any time she had a fever. She got strep a lot that year and yeah ... gross. We used to always have her sleep with a bowl by her bed when sick. It must be something kind of anatomical because she also threw up way more than the others for the stomach bug we got this year. Way, way more.

My middle only threw up from the stomach bug, nothing else like fever. The little one is 1.5 and she has thrown up once from a fever spike but not with every illness like the oldest.

I’m sorry, it’s so awful!

@LadyDi: one of my boys throws up whenever he gets an ear infection (also has a fever). Just wanted to throw that out there bc I didn’t know that could be an ear infection symptom!

Hope everyone is feeling better soon!

My younger daughter throws up from coughing when she is really mucousy. It’s better now at 4, but as a baby and young toddler it happened often enough- cough, mucous, gag on mucous, puke. And I’ve definitely heard of people throwing up from spiking a fever.

What you are describing is worse than she had it but not totally different. I could see with a lot of congestion it happening more and more.

Sorry though. It sucks so much when they are sick and throw up is the worst.

Does anyone's LO throw up when he gets a fever? My kids have been sick off and on for about a month. It seems like when my LO (7 months) has a fever that creeps above 101 he gets really lethargic for a few minutes, then throws up, and then he's fine. He also has a really bad cough right now and has also coughed really hard after eating and thrown up the whole bottle. Over the past couple days he's probably thrown up 4 or 5 times, 3 of them being today.

We've been to the pediatrician a couple of times and they just keep saying he has a virus (respiratory, not a GI bug) and that the throwing up is normal, but it's starting to really worry me. I am also weaning (I started before he got sick, bad timing, I know but now I am not producing enough milk). I don't think it's a formula intolerance because he's had formula a decent amount before getting sick. Anyway, I'll call my dr again in the morning, just wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else.
