No, it's not weird for only one of you to have it or it is possible for her to have symptoms but not you. DS had it on/off for 5 months (!!!) and it was terrrrrible. Good job with the water/vinegar rinse. You can buy nystatin cream OTC (or get a Rx for Jack Newman's APNO) and use it on your nipples after feeding. The important thing to remember is you can pass it back and forth so you both need to be treated.

Good luck!

@Blueberry: Thanks for the good wishes. She seemed to eat okay, but we'll see how things are in the morning. She will be 8 months old next week and this is the first time we've dealt with this! I thought we'd escaped because I usually hear about people with younger babies battling thrush, but not often about older ones. Boo. I'm glad yours went away fast, gives me hope that we can get rid of it soon if that's really what it is.

@PurplePeony: oh no! :( DS got thrush at around 4 weeks and gave it to me. It was crazy painful!! I emailed my pediatrician with DS's symptoms (not wanting to eat, white milk like patches on the inside of his cheeks) and gave him my symptoms as well. DS got a topical cream for his mouth and I got (from my OBGYN) a cream for my nipples so we wouldn't keep giving it to each other. It went away in a couple of days. I have also heard great things about gentian violet for treating thrush. Hope you don't get it.. It's very uncomfortable! And I hope your baby girl feels better soon!

So, I think DD has thrush. :( Tonight, she was overtired and hungry when we got home from work/daycare and was screaming her head off, and I noticed white patches on the insides of both her cheeks. I don't think they've been there long -- I haven't noticed them before tonight, although I haven't been specifically looking. But I don't seem to have any symptoms...yet... (knock on wood). I washed my nipples with vinegar and water after she ate, just to try to head it off if thats what it turns out to be, but is it weird that she would have it and not me? I'm wondering if maybe another baby at daycare has it and they got hold of the same toy...I don't know. We're off to the ped tomorrow morning, I guess. Sigh.
