Thrush stinks. For me I knew the difference because I had shooting pains even when I wasn't nursing

@miranlee: yeah, I was :( It was a total pain. I only sterilized once a day. So if I used a bottle twice, I'd wash it between uses, but only sterilize it at the end of the day. I found these microwave sterilization bags to be a huge time-saver: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002LTT65I/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1331163281&sr=8-1

I must still have thrush, bc my nipples are still pretty pink.

@owlmom: were you laundering and sterilizing everything every day for the full 9 weeks? I haven't been quite so vigilante....i'm thinking i have to be now. aaarghh...

My experience is nearly identical to @Green Thumb's. I still have some nipple tenderness - my LO just doesn't have a fantastic latch, even after working with an LC. I could tell that I'd finally beaten thrush after a 9 week battle because I no longer had shooting pain radiating from my nipple back into my deep breast tissue, and my nipples were no longer bright red.

I'm only 6 weeks in and I still have soreness every feeding. I don't have thrush, but I thought I did because I didn't think it was supposed to hurt this long. I think the difference is if the pain goes away after a few seconds, then it's not thrush. If the pain stays the entire feeding, it could be thrush, or a bad latch... tough to tell and it sucks for the Mom.

People say it's supposed to be painless but I've had soreness the entire time (we battled thrush for MONTHS) she's been exclusively bf for 5 months now and I still have soreness (all the time).

I can't tell if the minor breast pain I have is because I still have thrush or if it's normal nipple soreness from breastfeeding/pumping. We have been taking all the thrush remedies-GV, nystatin, etc...for about 12 days now. I still do get the occassional sharp pain in my breast tissue, but more than that my nipples feel a little sore/raw after a session. Is that normal? I thought it would be gone by now. My daughter is 9 weeks old and exclusively breastfed. Are you not supposed to feel any soreness during/after breastfeeding and pumping? It's still a little new to me, so I can't tell what's normal.
