I sucked my thumb until maybe age 5 at the oldest when my parents found a bribe I wanted more than I wanted to suck my thumb. I think the more I tell him not to the more he wants to so I'm trying the incentive route right now. I think it's getting harder and harder now that he's older. Oh well. He really only does it when he's tired and in the car sometimes. He still sucks his thumb to fall asleep, when he's frustrated or teething. We're not doing anything about it for now, except maybe pulling it out now and then when he doesn't have a good reason to sulk. He always hated being swaddled because he wanted his hands by his face and in the anatomy scan ultrasound the tech had a hard time trying to get his hands off his face. She's now 14 months old and still sucks her thumb to sleep, when she's upset, and when she's tired. Once in a while she'll walk around the house with her thumb in her mouth and when she does that, I try to take it out. But then she thinks it's a game and does it over and over.
