We've had to use physiogel (similar to Aquaphor) and an antibiotic/steroid around my LO's eyes because she was rubbing her drooly hands on them and irritating the skin, so I wouldn't be surprised if her thumb is next.</p> <p>Is coconut oil edible? Did you have any problems with it staining everything your LO touches? It was when he was teething and sucking very vigorously. I noticed yesterday on my daughter thumb, that her skin is dry and cracked and a little red. It is on the skin side of her thumb from her knuckle up. Is this normal? I want to put coconut oil on it to see if that helps. She only sucks her thumb to go to sleep and then she spits it out before she gets in a deep sleep. Thanks! </p>
